Here’s a shot from the top of sugarbowl chairlift at remarks today. Beautiful blue skies all day! Apparently they havent had snow this good in years. My god that park is ridiculous as well! Was awesome watching everyone from the chairlift.
Was so good to be snowboarding again! Hopefully I’m not hurting too much tomorrow!
If you don’t have TC or Cardy on your tour, maybe try to get out there. TC is my favourite mountain in NZ with really long runs, good hiking spots and some wicked side country (need to hike out) so it might be worth checking out.
We are going to the remarkables, coronet peak and cardrona.
Top of TC
That looks sick
Haha here is the hike up:
I’m thinking that the hike was worth it.
Definitely!
Anyone have any recommendations on things to do on bad weather days? Weather tomorrow is forecast snow and I’m aching something shocking so tomorrow is a rest day.
So far planning on hitting up Fergburger and if no one suggests anything better then it’ll be a lazy Sunday afternoon at the bar!
Besides what has been mentioned on here.
Shotover jet (don’t worry if it is raining!) or if it not raining at lake level you can go on the steamboat on the lake and over to the farm.
If you have a car Arrowtown is pretty cool for lunch.
Yeah, there’s supposed to be a cool piccy theatre in Arrowtown, so that might be a goer when the wethers crap?????
Arrowtown sounds perfect but unfortunately we are car-less. Might have to check out the buses in the morning.
The shotover boat sounds awesome too but I think i will have to save that till Thursday when I’m not so sore! :p
I found the shotover boat boring and not worth the money… In the cold, your head and hands freeze so bring gloves / beanie / facemask if you’re planning to do it.
You can go clay shooting, bungie jumping, luge (top of the gondola), paragliding etc.

yeah I did the shotover in Fiji when I was 14 and thought it was the best thing ever. Did it again when I was 25 (in qtown this time) and was so disappointed!

and if you have a car, recommend the drive around the Lake to Paradise. It’s the end of the world, total magic. After going there, we’d blow off the Shotover Jet for a trip on the Dart Jet, which takes a fair while, and you can do the float down the river on blow-up kayaks as part of the deal. Something we really want to do, tried to do but ran out of time. Next time for sure.
then I just found a story on Paradise on my FB feed… it’s bikes, but you get the idea Paradise
Arrowtown is cool, mad little pub there.
Shotover jet - I wouldnt bother.
Apart form that dont know what to do on a down day, i have never had a day i havent boarded there to be honest.
And if the snow is as good as erryone is saying it is, there is no, i mean NO excuse to not go to TC!
