JAPAN 2013/2014

Dyldo,

No need to stay in Sapporo to see the festival!!!!! (Unless ya wanna do the Beer Museum as well)

A day trip ticket in on one of ya down days is the go, and a quick walk around the festival is more than enough, then duck down one of the streets that head to Susukino, and grab some authentic Ramen and a few beverages is the go!!!!!

Tokyo is a buzz, 5 days in there will def keep ya busy!!!!!

And whilst I’ve only been to Harajuku once, there was fashion in abundance!!!!! * Along with most of Shinjuku and Shibuya as well!!!!!

You can spend two lifetimes in Tokyo and NEVER see/experience it all!!!!!

You’ll love it!!!!!

Mizu,

The problem is that the festival is over 2 days after he gets to Japan…

will there still be lingering parts of the festival there on say the 12th? If he did go up earlier for it?

Not sure he has a down day with the FYFE camp…

He’ll have to take a down day I reckon, otherwise the shear logistics and costs involved to stay in Sapporo solely for the festival WONT be worth it!!!!!

Maybe that’s just me, but I’d have a $100 on Dyldo not bein that impressed with ice sculptures of Anime and mermaids for the outlay involved in stayin there?????

You won’t find many people willing to bet against you hence us advising him to give it a miss and stick to the Tokyo/Niseko combo plenty of snow + plenty of Japan culture.

Thinking about flying to Tokyo from sapporo for New Years.. Would you guys recommend it or is there plenty to do in niseko?

Having never been there but my guess is due to the sheer amount of western tourists in Niseko there will be NYE shenanigans?!

Exactly!

I was more thinking an early morning flight to Saporro and a day trip in Saporro before heading up to Nis…

I wont take the $100 bet either Mizu.. but he says he wants too.

New years eve in Japan isn’t a big excuse for a party like you might be used to over here. Japanese tend to spend it with family or at temples/shrines.

If you are looking for a party you are probably best off sticking with other Gaijin in which case Niseko is probably best.

Maybe a little hectic, and possibly expensive, Mcgoo?????

If this is the first time in Japan, I reckon that Tokyo will be more than enough to supply the goods on a weekday for ya anyways!!!!!

The Biggest City in The World will always have somethin goin on, no matter when!!!!!

Just the ATM’s and the Rail Network go to sleep at certain times!!!!!  LOL

Yeh my mates where super keen on it. But I wasn’t cause I actually thought about cost price.

They all bailed on me for perisher in August cause of coin problems haha so I doubt Tokyo New Years will see the light of day.

Maybe look at Susukino in Sapporo, Mcgoo?????

It will still be most likely expensive, but it will def be a cheaper exercise compared to Tokyo!!!!!
