GoPro Poles

Avatar

Hey guys,

I’ve been using my gopro for a while now taking it surfing and strapping it to just about anything. I’m going to be heading up to the snow (when we get a decent amount) and I was just looking at some poles preferable telescopic to get close ups and full shot wide angles as well.

I’ve scoured the internet trying to find what I think looks to be the best pole, I would like something that is under 30cm or even around 20cm when folded in and up to about 40-50cm when fully out. This way it isn’t too flimsy and with the fish eye lens 40-50cm should be plenty.

The best one I have found is the XS UShot 2.0 telescopic which is 20-50cm:

Has anyone had any experience with this brand or pole? Or does anyone know any other poles which are not too expensive. Even better if anyone knows any stores in Melbourne that stock gopro poles like what I’m after.

I did come across these when searching, sportscammera.com.au stocks the gopole which I did look at but it is still 17” or 40ish cm when folded down. I was looking at something smaller and will probably end up getting the UShot.

Just wanted to see what everyone else uses and what you think would be the best. Will do some more research first tho

I’ve just got my own home made one…not telescopic…converted kids ski stock. I ain’t shelling out money for that!

I made my own out of a telescopic aluminium walker’s pole.  I just bought a GP handlebar mount and attached that to the end.  Works pretty well.

Anyone that buys one is a weirdo IMO.

Old ski pole + elecy tape. Better than a bought one.

Yer that would be the easy option, but if you get sick of carrying around the pole all day, you want to put the gopro on your helmet or the battery runs flat where are you going to put it? With a small 20cm folded up telescopic pole it could fit in a pocket or bag a lot easier than a ski pole.

Plus they are a lot sturdier and it will eliminate the flex in the ski pole. Will have a look around and do some experimenting

My Cleaning Pole nock up from Bunnos, cost me ~ $14, extends to about 140cm, and collapses to 70cm!!!!!

A pain in the arse to carry around, but ya could always stash it somewhere and return, or what I do is just take it out on one or two days, share it around with everyone!!!!!

Lets face it, how much footage do ya really wanna be editin anyways?????

The good thing about longer poles is you can get a decent amount of yourself in.  Some of the shorter ones I’ve seen result in chopped-off legs in the video output.

My drift one collapses down smaller than 20cm I think…

Its pretty good. I think a gopro can be used with it.

I will send this to Spaz… Surprised he hasn’t comment on this yet…

That’s a sick video Miz!

I’ve been meaning to sort out some sort of pole for mine. I might try and knock something up tonight seeing as though I have nothing doing.
