I only managed to get 3 photos to load to instagram this morning. I tried to load more but it kept failing.
Right now I’m using HotShots internet connection (fastest in the village) while I watch the shop for a half hour.
This was what greeted me when I woke up today, from what I hear it was only a couple of hours worth.
I sms’ed my ex early to let her know it was snowing so she could beat the traffic. Unfortunately (or luckily) she got caught about 50 cars behind an accident that closed the Alpine Way. Her bf know how to drive a 4wd and just drove past all the waiting cars.
On the walk down to the car, the ducks came over to tell us all about the snow.
I took this one while having breakfast. Instagram is becoming so unstable I posted it to FB. Take close look and you can see over an inch of snow balanced on skinny branches.
Spewing about ig because I made a nice video during yesterdays sunrise but it wouldn’t post - by today I was getting the shits seeing a failed notice each time I tried so I deleted it.
This handrail had around 5cm when I woke up, by 11am it was like this - more than 10cm.
PP made this snowball on the walk to the car. She named him Steve (Steve Snowball) she hid him under a tree for safe keeping.
Taking this pano I got locked out of the fire escape and had to lap the building in just boardshorts lol
On my first “social interaction” in Thredbo ran into chippy while waiting to be served at the bistro. He works as in mountain crew maintenance and is my best contact in Thredbo for conditions (best in general), he said “an honest 20cm in Cruiser Area, ideal snow because of the Easterly air flow, carrying plenty of moisture to create a resort wide base.”
Right now it’s clear snow in the village and the temp has dropped.
Awesome pics, spaz! We’re headed down this weekend.. Looking forward to having a slide.
Great photos, spaz. Do you have any photos from this morning? 25cm in 24 hours… stoked!
Spaz, that photo of the tree is stunning.. I looks like its IR!!
and the one of pp is very adorable!!
sucks about getting locked out in boardies though!
a mate of ours went for a 6:30am run in jindy in just training shorts (like boardies) when it was snowing outside.. So crazy!! Lol!!
i was up at thredbo from about 10-330 on sunday, cant wait to get back up there when more is open, so stoked on how long the runs are!
Great photos, spaz. Do you have any photos from this morning? 25cm in 24 hours… stoked!
I didn’t take any photos yesterday. The village was to wet, all the snow on the ground washed away (below 1500m) the chair side of the mountain didn’t lose everything.
Hopefully today a check clears in my account and I can pick up my season pass. Then start doing SNOcam Daily Run.
Check cleared, so hit the hill today.
Earned some easy dollars.
1/ While ordering a coffee, I sold the barista a HeadCam - paid for from the till.
2/ Taking photos of a lodge.
FINALLY RAN INTO DANNY!!
At the top of Gunbarrel: he was about to head down Highnoon, I was just about to meet PP.
Optus is now 3G in most of Thredbo. But the load on the network slows it down. It’s much better than Perisher last year. Plus my phone is already linked into a few wifi networks in the village.
Rode a chair with “longy” who is a featured rider for the Thredbo Grind (is that right?) a video series put together in collaboration between BW & Thredbo by Ollipop films. He has also been in a few episodes of Oi! Mate.
Oh! I did shoot some video but haven’t had a chance to look at it yet.
My computer and SD card aren’t with me now but I might get a chance to get them before breaky and do a quick cut and upload it before I get on the hill today.
The guns have been pumping since 10pm. Sounds like there will be man made pow to attack.
Longy is a champ. The series is called “That Thredbo Vibe” - a name he actually came up with. Olliepop Films is focussing 100% on Oi Mate! We are working with another very talented filmer on this project - Keith Webster.
Hahahaha
Considering the way the snow looks ... it’s not far from the truth. Supertrail was woeful yesterday. Worst I’ve ever seen it.
Ran into Jeremy (Olliepop films) on Friday Flat last night at the rail comp.
I actually ran into heaps of people there, took some photos but I can hardly get Ullr wifi in my room so couldn’t upload anything.
My laptop is still having issues and editing is a pita - so I haven’t been able to finish off any vids yet.
3G is slow and keeps disappearing so my Internet time is reserved to wifi hotspots which businesses are hesitant to even create. And those that do its slower than 3G (Thredbo hotel) So glad I can use HotShots with the fastest connection in the village.
