I am not saying it is happening any time soon!
I am watching for this towers pads just as much as you guys are!
A Guthega adult nursery tail for your eyes and memories only part 1
I Parachuted into Guthega for the T and T on the Timber Trail with a woody Woodpecker landed on a Wombat and a Possum whilst Bloody Mary on her Milk Run Powdered her Valley and did some Hanky Panky with Karl Snaxl who Screwed his Mother In Law on the Blue Cow High Traverse.Meanwhile Kurt Lin Dorf who was Bad In Skiing went with the Norwegian ski team back down the Home Trail to Guthega to start it all again.
Good spur of the moment trip with Deano, our failure to camp can be squarely placed on the fcuken VW dealer who was sposed to have fitted my hardlid and towbar prior to delviery but didn’t surprise, surprise. I couldn’t take chateau NBG without a towbar and despite my best efforts with a tarp our tents got soaked through in the torrential rain on the way down due to no hardcover.
Very luckily for us Ozmum and Dad were happy to take us in, extra bonus cause it was the wettest day at the snow I can remember and our outerwear was pretty damp so we used the furnace to dry them out overnight. Today was an awesome day, waking up to see the sun shining was such a welcome change. Was firm early on but softened up as the day wore on.
My new DC Ply went well, my new Burton Ambush boots were epic highly recommended. My VW ate up the miles in effortless comfort and Deano provided the entertainment and allowed me to rabbit on about man crap without complaint throughout the 12hours of driving.
I was a little concerned about the Ply on the first run, I actually was thinking WTF did I buy this for. Each subsequent run I found it better and better, today I was having a ball and stoked I bought it, camber is having a resurgence in my world right now. I think the first run of the season, the atrocious visibility, sub par snow conditions and the difference new boots made combined to freak me out a bit with the board. New boots and board kinda changed two things at once which means a bit more of an accustomisation period was needed but as I said, today was a blast on the Ply.
On the way home today there was snow on the mountains behind Micalago, I have never ever seen that before, grabbed some pics of it that I’ll put up, must be pretty rare that far from the snowies!
Freddy doesn’t rate his Ply at all and wishes he never bought it. haha
If Freddy has been riding rockered Arbors prior to riding the Ply I can totally understand why, totally different animal. Once I got used to the differences though I can honestly say I’m pretty stoked with it. Only cost me $275, I’ve spent a lot more on nights out so in the scheme of things, even if I ended up hating it, not such a huge problem.
DUe to it being last seasons model it’s the one with 4 chicks butts as the top sheet graphic, got some interesting looks in the lift lines, almost as many as Deano whilst rocking his polarised leather side pocketed 1981 sunnies with hooked earpieces and sports string ha ha!
As much as I had a blast today I would have preferred skiing P after seeing that photo of mid station.
PP showed me a rock she was using as a jump in all the snow yesterday in Thredbo. Impressively it was a 6-8’ drop - double her hight.
It’s the only area I could see worth riding that wasn’t packed down. So much more is hidden around P than what would be at Thredbo.
But bombing Highnoon is fun. My legs are waking up again.
Nice Mike…
Whilst the weekend was gorgeous, Had to get Monsters new Volkls ptexed after the weekends training sessions, sux balls, and a mid week visit from the boys in the white out said that the cover still really isn’t that good.
Looks like a gorgeous day up the hill. I’m at home on the lounge with the flu (sucks balls) and the boys are up the hill.
Monster is in the SMGS demonstration team for the inaugural QLD interschools today. Little man put on his race suit and awwww how cute! (Yes I know skiers!!!) practice race for him but little tacker still quite nervous!
If you see a little dude in a SMGS jacket and red race suit cheer him on.
We are up the hill this weekend, based around Blue Cow and yes I’m on sky’s but if you wanna day hello please do.
Probably mid season id like to get the board out,
I love those sunnies, i think they will be my go to goggles/sunnies for bluebird days.
My fav butt is the one just in front of your rear binding…mmmmmmmm
Ripped from Stoke thread;
Stoked on the 2 days of riding NBG and i got Tues/Weds.
Tues was terrible vis but was constantly snowing/sleeting and fun powder runs through happy valley (although the Tbar waiting times were horrendous)
Yesterday was so effing fun. Bluebird skies, abit firm in the morning but softened up as the morning wore on. Shitload of high speed runs and hitting a few natural little features made for a good day. Saw a girl attempt a jump and just destroyed herself, she was prone for a few minutes then ski patrol put her in the boat and took her down.
Was starting to get real chopped up around lunchtime so we made the call around 1 to head.
Spoke to a few guys on the lift about Bluecow, they said it was scary busy and not fun dodging people on every run. Also they said the bottom of rollercoaster is roped off and funnels people into a small area to load onto the chair, im not exactly sure what they meant exactly but they said it equates to stupid waiting times to load. The lines were pretty hectic on the V8 and on the quad, not to mention the Tbar in Happy Valley with school holidays approaching (QLD are already on holidays) i dont envy anyone going down in the next 2 weeks with this limited terrain. I wont be heading back down unless there is a stupid amount of snow dumped during that time frame.
those sunnies are boss as!
Nice write ups NBG and deano!
I found riding through “lunchtime” was good for getting in some runs with minimal lift lines. I actually did a whole bunch of Zalis runs where I could ride straight to the gate. Sounds like opening Ridge chair might have moved some of the traffic over there now though. Saved some time in the singles line at the quad as well.
Yeh lunchtime was optimal riding time.
I heard they also closed Zalis for some midday grooming which made a mess of the crowds, but that was hearsay
Imagine if deano was riding his dickboard while NBG riding his butt board.
Especially with his sexual deviant sunglasses!
