So don’t send it today?
Hmm I need my passport to send it today… Monday it is… :(
hey ayeshaje, just curious when did you apply for your visa? how long it take you to get your letter of introduction?
Not sure if this would be affecting it but might be a longer wait…
Alert – Strike Action
The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers (PAFSO) union is currently taking strike action. PAFSO union members responsible for processing visa applications have been walking out of offices in Canada and overseas.
Posted processing times for both temporary and permanent resident visa applications do not take into account work stoppages.
Anyone applying for a visa should anticipate delays and submit their application as far in advance as possible.
Contingency plans are already in place to ensure all offices remain open and are providing at least a minimum level of service. Priority will be placed on urgent humanitarian applications.
CIC continues to closely monitor the situation.
That’s from the My Cic website.
be a good idea to keep up to date on this hopefully hasn’t affected anyone here
So pretty much overnight after applying for the second leg of the application (have conditional letter of acceptance) via the My Cic website I received an email to check my letters. And I had a letter saying “your application to study or work in Canada has been approved. Your study or work permit will be issued to you upon arrival in Canada… present this letter with your passport” - so do I get a visa as well or is this it? And why was the turnaround so quick, I thought its supposed to take a month?
Others have also said that it can be pretty damn quick.
I got my UK passport in 2 weeks which says 4-6 week turnaround.

Hi Joy,
Yeah, you present the latter at immigration when you enter Canada. You will be issued a visa on entry. That letter does not guarantee you will get a visa…
Don’t want the above to concern you, I have never known anyone to be turned away at the gate. But yeah you technically don’t get your visa until entering the county.
lol lucky to get it so soon! jealous as, still fingers crossed its coming and not delayed by the strike action

Awesome!! So pumped.
Less than 9 weeks until we leave Perth, getting pumped!!! (but also a little stressed at the fact we still need to pack up our entire house…)

What are you planning to do with your stuff?
I’m pretty lucky that I can leave most of my crap with my current housemates (some of my best friends) since my stuff is the couch, TV, microwave and other kitchen stuff.
My bed can go to one of my brothers new places or my Mum’s place (they can all pretty much use a spare bed). and my clothes I’ll either donate to Vinnies (or Salvos or something?) and the good stuff take back to the parents or bring with me to Canada.
Yeah we’ve already sold a bit off and will sell a little bit more and the rest of it (most of our furniture, washing machine etc) can store at my boyfriend’s parents place - they just built a big shed out the back so taking the opportunity to fill it up for them haha! Not sure that we’ll ever return though but just a good back up…Actually went to a swap meet in a car park a few weeks back and made about $400 off our crap we didn’t want so stoked with that!
I dont have much, but what i do own will be sent back to my parents to live under the house. Im really hoping i can sell all my texts books, my keyboard/guitar and maybe even my skateboards for a bit of extra cash. I have also made a pile of clothes i dont wear any more so im going to donate then which will leave me alli really own left (besides a computer and an xbox)
Start throwing stuff you can live without on Gumtree / Ebay now. If you have more than one guitar (or you don’t actually play it) get rid of them, the spare skateboards etc. Maybe even sell the xbox as well since the new ones will be out when you get back and therefore your xbox will be worth even less in 6 months than now.
Whoa whoa whoa, lets not get crazy here.no need to sell an xbox just yet.
