JAPAN 2013/2014

ozgirl - 12 June 2013 04:51 PM

When do the flights start?

Just looked up that route for the 15th Feb - 28th Feb no flights available.

I will be curious to see if they are cheaper than the 10,500 yen i mentioned!

I don’t think you can book the domestic flights this far in advanced if you want to travel early next year.

We are looking at gettin a season pass. Mate said it will end up being cheaper? There for 28 days. Does anyone know what the season pass includes for niseko?

Here’s a quote from Niseko

The Niseko United All Mountain Pass can be used at Niseko Annupuri, Niseko Village (formerly Higashiyama) Niseko Grand Hirafu and Hanazono.

and the price list http://www.niseko.ne.jp/en/lift/

Personally I wouldn’t want to go to Japan for 28 days and restrict myself to one mountain.

Okay just tried November. Nothing

Just tried August - Friday there - Friday back.

And one way was 23,500 yen

So over double what you can get with JAL when you book an International flight in conjunction with it.

wow.. thats expensive.. I had a quick look myself for a week in July, and comparing the fares, they range from 50,00 yen one way to over 20,000 depending on the day of the week.
Weekends are always more expensive, and I would take a guess that August is the height of the Summer with school & university holidays, so they would bump up the price to take advantage.

Oh yeah I agree! But it was the only date I could get a figure for. And I was trying to compare like with like (i tend to fly on Friday’s when I go to Japan)

But my initial point is still valid LOL

Fly Jetstar to Japan (or any online booking where you can’t access the 10,500 yen one way sectors) and you can get royally screwed on the domestic airfares. Jetstar Japan or not!

I am not a fan of flying Jetstar to Japan.
My wife is from Osaka, so we fly into Kansai.
Jetstar puts us on a flight out of Sydney at the crack of dawn, you arrive at the Gold Coast same time, wait 4 hours then board the international flight. No food, or entertainment unless you pay for it, and the flight attendants are for the better word of it a-holes, and if your luggage is over the limit, they charge you.
In January, we flew Singapore.
Took maybe 3 or 4 hours longer, but we had entertainment, food & the Singapore girls are hot.

Yeah I agree!

I would much prefer to fly via singapore than jetstar!

I have suggested it to people on this board more than once (billy I am looking at you here! And DRC - who took my advice actually!)

And the fares were reasonable as well.
I am lucky cause the missus works in travel, and she was able to get return air fares for both of us for I think (my brain cells have been killed off by booze) abound $1,200 return each.

Just for clarification regarding flights into say Tokyo/Osaka instead of flying direct to Sapporo (which I would definitely do if I were just hitting the snow and the snow only).

The idea (or the condition to hit up Japan as set by my missus) is that we do tourist stuff for say, one week, and then hit the snow for another week.

Good idea. I got jetstar to osaka. Then is easy trains to kyoto or South to hiroshima. Then from kyoto it easy to matsamoto then nagano. Nagano to hakuba myoko nozawa etc is is quick bus or train also.  Shinkanzen from nagano to tokyo. Get the JR pass and its cheap.
Youll get points if you take her to kyoto for sure.

Hey all I am planning on heading back to Japan in 6months and doing a week at Niseko and a week in Tokyo. It will be our second time to Japan but first time to the snow (will have 3yo in tow). I remember reading that it’s cheaper to stay out of Niseko and commute to the mountain/lifts by shuttle bus? Can anyone recommend somewhere reasonable to look at?

Looking forward to then next 6months posting here and might see some of you there!

I’ll be at niseko from 25th December to the 22nd jan. can’t wait.
28 days of nipple deep powder.
White Christmas.
Possible Tokyo New Years.
And…. Snow! Haha

See ya there Mcgoo! I’m there from the 26th…

How long you there for?? Get a decent deal on Accomodation?
We are looking at gettin a season pass. Mate said it will end up being cheaper? There for 28 days. Does anyone know what the season pass includes for niseko?

Yeah you might be better off getting a season pass if you’re going to stick to Niseko united, but if you want to go to other resorts like moiwa, rusutsu etc you might be better off getting a 21 day pass, and buying extra if you need it… Have to factor on a couple of rest days too in there if ya need it!

I’m there til the 14th. Wanted to stay longer but I’m a bridesmaid in a wedding on the 16th in Melbs…. Ahhhhhh

Staying in koropokkuru, a bit old and dodgy, but close in upper hirafu and cheap!!

Yeh I was keen to go to others but as soon as you start mountain hopping and changing up hotels etc. it starts to add up.
It was hard enough to get my mates in to buy the flights haha
I’ll do a mountain hop in the future. But when your organising a whole trip for 3 other blokes. Simple and cheaper is better haha.

I’m not sure why you would need to change hotels? There’s plenty of other options on Hokkaido (such as Rusutsu and Moiwa) which are easily accessible from Hirafu.

You also have places like Furano and Tomamu but they are a bit further away.
