Some interesting updates to the GoPro mobile app and Cineform Studio software.
Great write up by Gizmodo.
“You can now use your phone to view all of the videos and photos stored on the camera.”
IF it works
<strike>this brings about a new dilemma.
wheres my gopro?
wheres my drift?
wheres all the accessories that go with them?
these are the questions that will now rule my night</strike>
nevermind, found it all in a plastic bag less than a metre from my feet
hehe I’ve kinda been in that dilemma all year, only with so many of everything I’m not short of spare accessories.
There is a Drift HD1080 missing somewhere in here.
And I want to order a few Replay1080 before I leave next week.

I’ve had some issues with my GP3b using a Sandisk Class 10 card. I’ve done a bit of reading and it turns out there are lots of reports of problems with Sandisk cards in the GP3. You’d think this is a bit of an issue since Sandisk is the card GoPro sells in their own store. Anyway, some people have done some testing and it looks like the Sandisk micro-SD cards can have issues keeping up with the write rates of the cams. The issues I experienced were:
1. when cam boots up there is about a second where it doesn’t recognise the card. No biggie, except if you’re using 1-button mode, because the cam then barfs and doesn’t record.
2. One night I took the card out to read all the video files into my macbook via a card reader. That all went fine but the next morning the cam wouldn’t recognise the card at all. Even the mac couldn’t see it until I used the Mac “disk utility” which could see the card and was able to format it.
The guys over at the GoPro free forum have tested some other cards and surprisingly one of the cheapies seems to work well - the Transcend. I’ve got myself one of these and initial indications are good - no temporary “NO SD” message at boot-up.
Another issue I had was with the wifi remote being quite flaky. Sometimes the remote would work perfectly, other times there would be a slight delay in response to button presses, and other times it would be completely unresponsive. I’m not sure if this could be related to the Sandisk issue - maybe the cam went unresponsive trying to talk to the crappy card?
