Broken elements on the forums

Hey guys,

We pushed through a pretty big upgrade last night which we knew would break a few things. We now have to rebuild what we broke, which is getting done ASAP.

This is what I have as broken since the upgrade:

- HTML styling buttons in POST REPLY, i.e. bold, italics, image etc.

- Icons: sticky, polls, closed threads etc.
Instead of showing icons, showing this text: ...boardworld.com.au/themes/forum_themes/boardworld/images/marker_sticky_topic.gif

- Smileys: extra smileys have disappeared i.e.

- PM notification gone

Is there anything else you have noticed?

So we pretty much deleted what Lano did?

Some of it, yes. It’s being rebuilt.

Embedded video still works!! - Lano def sorted that out right!

Shit he must be devo tho seeing whats broken.

All well and good… but I think this is why you need a test site to play with.

We are the biggest snowboard community in Australia, people coming will get turned away by massive visual issues like what you see on the thread list pages.

(Please don’t take offense to anything I say here, just pointing out that many of us would be happy to test stuff before we fumble it live)

I always appreciate the feedback of our community.

Unfortunately some things can’t be avoided. We are working as a team behind the scenes. We were all aware of what was going on and what would probably break. We decided as a group that it was still necessary and the way forward. We have four developers currently working on different areas of the site, including Lano.

I don’t want to see our forums broken either, and this should be the last time you see anything like this happening. Everything we are upgrading and putting in place is for the long-term benefit of our community. We unfortunately might have to take some hits in the short term in order to prosper in the future.

It’s a pain in the ass, I know…

There’s actually a lot of stuff that’s being tested on test sites behind the scenes. This upgrade wasn’t possible to do it that way though. It was a massive system upgrade, so it had to be pushed live.

All good, just throwing it all out there. Just going from my own (limited) website and forum building and usage.

Too weird, all I’m seeing on my screen is gay porn!

Yep, we have that listed. The button still works, just looks ugly.
