Really NBG? really???
Wollongong, Newcastle, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Gold Coast….

Of the top 10 most populated cities in Aust, 5 of them you can surf.

Wollongong is definitely a major city you can surf everyday. From the city center the nearest surf beach is 5min walk. Even all the way up were I surf is only a 20min drive to the city center and up there is a surf break every 100m for a good 8km of coastline.
How long does it take to get from Avalon to Sydney?

Ha ha ha ha ha, none of those are major cities, hell Wagga is a “city.”  I’m sorry mate but big business does not bother with those cities, they are in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and to a lesser extent Adelaide, Hobart and Perth.  I don’t classify anything outside of those I have mentioned as cities, applying the word to anything less is really just and extravagance asked for by self important city centres.  Hell Parramatta and Chatswood have bigger CBD’s then the Gong or Newcastle.

Maybe our opinions of what constitutes proper metropolitan cities differ somewhat but employment opportunities are nowhere near the same in the “cities” you have mentioned compared to the capital cities, just ask Deano.

This one is NSW Deebs, I dunno what the guy in the picture is smoking but it’s never cold enough on a sunny winters day for a hood here.

I respect you comments but maybe you should have said “capital city with a population over 1mil with surf nearby” - which limits the options to ONE.
Unless you count Perth as having surf.

Parramatta’s population is 20K whereas W’gong is 500K.
Gold Coast and Newy have bigger populations than Canberra!
W’gong is bigger than Hobart and Darwin, it was also the first choice by Captain Cook as our countries first town/city/epicentre of trade but he changed his mind because “OF TO MUCH SURF”. it was in his journal the first documented use of the term “barrel” was used to describe wave shape, from a Wollongong wave! (might be making up that it was a W’gong wave).
W’gong was an option to be the capital of NSW (also making that up).
W’gong is the 3rd most important port of trade in NSW. I’m NOT making that up

You said major city. W’gong is a “major city” by Australian standards.

Back to the matters at hand.

Can we windle the break down to state?

Wanna surf redsands and boneyards pretty bad. Theyre just down the road from my mates place at shellharbour.
Is the wave in port mac nbg?

No not Port Mac Deebs.  It’s north of Sydney but not by much.

Parramatta encompasses 61 square kilometres and has 166,000 residents, Wollongong draws it’s population from 741 square kilometres and has 292,000 residents, make of that what you will but IMO the those figures speak for themselves in terms of being a larger city or not.  Cities by definition are a concentration of buildings residents and businesses, the Gong is miles behind Parramatta.

Chatswood has 21,000 residents spread over 2.9 square kilometres, simple maths tells me that in city terms Chatswood is way bigger than the Gong, if Chatswood covered the same area as the gong it would be home to 5,365,000 people, no contest.
