Haha yep! That would be awesome, until she paints the whole thing pink!

I thin it cost me about $10 k all up for whistler. And that was 3 months!
10 days in Japan cos me $2500 everything included from flights to getting extremely drunk every day

I’m factoring in everything here.. Travel bag, new board, new boots, pass port, insurance, flights, accom, snow trips, 10-12 days on snow and 3-4 days travelling/sight seeing… Etc (we worked this out to be 4-5k) then I’m.looking at around 3-4k spending money - getting some camera equipment and what not..)

I’ve never been over seas.. So I plan to do my first trip with more than enough to go nuts!

Trust us H0z - you can go nuts AND not spend $10k.

Yeah, Don’t expect to buy a board in Japan, you’d be better off buying one here (Tokyo and the snow is more expensive than here).

And don’t get too overly excited about a powder board for over there, I find that unless you are able to do black runs in Aus, you probably aren’t going to be doing more than a few powder runs in Japan. Or it will be a powder run that heaps of people have already taken and therefore chopped up and fine for your normal board anyway.

I don’t want to ruin the excitement but I ride a Forum Scallywag 155 here (which is probably short for my size) and it handled the powder I got while in japan fine.

I said 7-10k.. Not just 10.. (what I just explained was factored on 7-8k.. )

also buying the board/bag/boots here before I go.. Probs end of this season.. Looking at another roxy or a gnu.. Not buying a powder board(not worth it for 10 days on snow.. Then back to AUS) I’m just getting a new board.. My one atm is a 145. So this will be a 145-148 or there about.. I’m.just going to set my stance further back..

You’re going to want at least a bit of rocker in the nose and a STRONG back leg. I’m not sure if you have seen my Japan video but most of that riding is with my weight on the rear and that’s on a powder board. In hindsight I should have set it back further than it already was!

Thanks for the tips! I’ll keep that in mind when looking at boards,

closest to powder I’ve been is first day on pleasant valley last year (the day blue cow opened.. And it wasn’t groomed..) we got to the flat bottom section (where you come.into it from.interceptor..) and stopped. Bad Idea.. Haha Mr.h0z started walking about ankle deep… Then suddenly sank over his knee and fell forward face planting the snow!! I fell over laughing!!

No worries be sure to ask about the board when it comes closer to the time as well as any general Japan questions as there’s quite a number of members here who have seen different parts/experiences.

I can assure you that the “fresh snow” you have encountered at Perisher will be blown away if you get lucky with a true pow day in Japan.

It’s not just the depth of it, it just feels completely different it’s just soo light and dry. You can even feel the difference when you are walking through the streets you run your hand or foot through it as it’s lighter than a feather almost like a cloud.

Hah I did my fair share of faceplanting which can get scary when it’s deep as it’s so damned hard to get back up and your head back up for fresh air. At the end of my video after I sink I had 5mins of footage of me rolling around trying to get back up. It’s an insane workout but worth every minute.

sigh…

I knew I should have left the word scary out even if it was for dramatic effect.

Haha!

I was going to say this is why i am scared of riding in real powder on a board!

I know everyone says its easier on a board than ski’s (and i understand the engineering side that it is fact) BUT it still scared me cause your strapped in!

I am having a giggle in my head right now about you failing about DRC and the resulting video evidence!
