I know all the photogs out there will complain about ass shots in boardsports, but I’m sure they can let this one slide wink

I disagree.

If you wouldn’t accept the picture of a man in this position why a female?

I don’t mind this thread BUT the above post is where i get uncomfortable - the above is where it becomes a picture that is objectifying women.

I hate to be the old nag about this but - yeah I will be.

The irony is K2 - that if you hadn’t put the disclaimer I prob would not have commented LOL

The thing is that guys in this photo would be wearing boardies or a wetsuit. She obviously knew she was getting photographed and probably had to approve the photo before it went into a magazine or on the net.

Totally objectifying women for sure but I’m sure this photo was approved and premeditated.

Kim I was taking the piss

This style photo is common in surf photography.
I said that because often when photos have been posted on here for snowboarding/skateboarding it gets mentioned that its an ass shot when givin tips

Alana does little for the “objectifying women” argument. Her instagram feed is nothing but sexy bikini shots. If you’ve got it flaunt it, if you can make money all the better.

Sex sells and this photo is all about that, just look at the sponsor coverage on the board.

I accept that I like girls looking sexy, while there is a part of me that is uncomfortable I don’t want girls to stop being sexy.
I’m not a fan of being convinced to buy products because it draws on my primal urges.

It’s not women’s fault that men find them attractive.

If that is the case that makes it even sadder :-(

I actually was going to say - can’t believe Alana didn’t have editorial approval over her photos.

Neither the photographer nor Alana should have let it be released.

But we the public should also not circulate it!

The buck stops with us. If no one was interested in seeing these “bad” photos they wouldn’t be released!

Its like grief porn… but sadly it rates so the television station keep showing it :-(

I didn’t really want to get in a huge debate about this. just quietly will say my 2 cents every now and again to remind you boys shaka

I loved Deano’s earlier post where he was like “hey hot board rider, awesome at what she does and intelligent too boot!”

Personally, I really don’t see much wrong with the photo, or any other photos of her either. I have a lot of respect for women, and I don’t think the photo is disrespectful in any way. Alana is a professional surfer AND a bikini model. She has her own range of bikinis with Rip Curl and she gets paid to look good and promote that range of products. The photo is just another surfing shot, and I have seen many similar photos of guys in the same angle; it’s just a standard shot from behind the wave. If Alana chooses to wear her range of bikinis while surfing, then I see absolutely nothing wrong with taking a photo of her surfing in it. If it’s not cold enough to wear a wetsuit and she is more confortable in bikini bottoms, power to her.

Not trying to start an argument but that’s my honest opinion. smile

I don’t hear any women complaining when David Beckham takes off his shirt at the end of games.

Or when he does modelling shoots.

No one thinks any less of him. Why should it be different for females?

Here you go, Kim… raspberry

Haha Rider!

I knew someone was going to post a photo of Beckham!

But unfortunately it is lost on me! grin

Cause when he opens his mouth - ewwwwww.

There is a lot more I want to say - but wont. As I said I don’t want to start a massive argument! Just wanted to say my peace!

Not many of you are aware that I have been exploited for having a sexy body as an actor and model.
I loved it (but there was always a part of my mind that was uncomfortable).

There’s little doubt in “the industry” that I can receive the same accolades in my 40’s, as a male, given 6 weeks training.
As an actor we often throw around the term “whoring” simply because we get paid for how we look not because of our talent.

It’s a fact of marketing and sex appeal.
If I were to pose in a firefighters outfit, after a workout, moistness would occur for the girls even in my current physical state (with ignorance to my intellectual attitudes). The reason I don’t is due to my own psychological nature and comfort for who I am.

That angle of surfing photography is to highlight a top turn and the water displacement it causes, this example doesn’t do that (sorry to disagree rider), the focus is on her “parts(?)” and the sponsors stickered on her board (simple “sex sells” marketing - of which I’m a fan).

Becker is appealing not for his physic but for the money he earns and stupid intellect (something that doesn’t make males moist), it would be easy (if your a girl - to have him spend the money on you). Money and stupidity are attractive qualities in men.
