That looked like awesome fun!!
Looks like so much fun! I don’t think I’d want to try a switch method though haha
I’d try, cant say it would end well though haha

i’ll second that
I like it!!!
Such a good idea. There’s so many aspects to snowboarding, we should have more unique comps like this.
. . . we should have more unique comps like this.
I’d really like to get something like this organised for The Shred.
One idea I had was timed runs through gates, where you do both regular and switch runs, and there are four prize categories - fastest switch, fastest regular, fastest ‘average’ (the time is measured by adding your switch time to your regular time, then halving it), and fastest ‘difference’ (the time is measured by subtracting your switch time from your regular time).
Another idea I discussed with Jez prior to last years’ Shred was a ‘morning after’ alcohol related race - where you get breath tested just before you race, with time bonuses based on a combination of residual alcohol in your system and your age. It was to be called the Boardworld Seriously Hungover Idiot Trophy, with the trophy being boot shaped.

I like the sound of this. If you can turn switch, you can compete! A good comp for everyone.
One problem though, I’m not sure how it is in Thredbo, but I know all the gates set ups in Perisher are private.
Can anyone confirm if Thredbo has a gates course open to public?
I remember maybe 7 or 8 years ago, Thredbo had a course where the public could race (against the clock). It had a proper start hut like they have at the Baker LBS, and you could see your time as you went through at the bottom. Names and times were recorded, and a prize was awarded at the end of each day. Heaps of fun.

Yeah, that’s what I had in mind.

Yeah, Whistler has one of those. And it’s a dual track so you can race your friends.
I doubt Thredbo still has that though. I’ve never seen one there.
I haven’t seen it at Thredbo in quite a while.
