Azz/Tambo - Hobart is killer i agree! Went there for work last year. Lark Distillery is awesome. But she is more of a sun/sand type of girl. In the future once winter is kicked in abit more.
Oz - Backpacker-ish is ok. Kinda keen to keep it relatively low cost. Will look into it. Cheers!
RPS - Melbourne is good but she is already going there with her friend, and i will take her down in the near future to show her around anyway. This is all about getting the last bit of summer (even though its over)
Hoz - I will def be taking her on that walk to the beach, we did something similar in Thailand to a waterfall. was hella fun 
But Down south (Jervis Bay/Huski) is on the cards for later. spent my youth surfing all around there so know that area pretty well. i have a caravan down Lake Conjola.
Dyldo - Just make sure you keep quiet in the cupboard mate

Kangaroo Valley used to be nice, but its more of a day trip thing like cords said!!!!!
Its only a 3 hour drive for me.. and we did kangaroo valley, and Jervis Bay twice in day trips.. but when we stayed we saw so much more.. we didn’t have to rush.. we are planning another Jervis bay trip.. this time I’m taking mum and her bestie with us, as they saw the photos and wanted to go.. lol
Only takes an hour from my place to Jervis!!!!!
What about south west rocks/crescent head? I haven’t been in about 12 years but went with a friend and we had a blast.. I was actually talking a group of us into going again some time..
You could always go Townsville.. I know its far north.. but you can get a day trip from the aquarium to a pontoon out on the reef (we went to Kelso reef) and you can snorkel, scuba, go in glass bottom boats and feed the fish.. and the reef is awesome.. (we went in August and its was 28?c in the water.. lol!

Yeh im currently looking around that area, im honestly open to anything that is warm, scuba etc. She has her Padi open water cert so that would be a bonus to do that.

But if its wine, food and scenic area, either the Southern Highlands or King Valley Region beats the Hunter for me!!!!!

Also, port Douglas.. As its a bit of everything.. Warm weather, nice beaches.. You can go to the reef.. And has the daintree nato park next door..

Port Douglas is purely a resort town. If you don’t mind a bit of a drive, it’s cheaper to stay in Cairns and hire a car 1 day for the rain forest and then get a boat to the reef. We went to Green Island but I’d recommend paying the extra and going to the outer reef as long as you’re decent swimmers.
There is also the Mossman gorge if you have time which is quite nice and an option to go on the Karunda Railway / Sky Car which is supposed to be good too (we ran out of time).
One of my favorite holidays ever was to -Cape Tribulation- Drove from Cairns (I don’t rate Cairns as a holiday destination - way to touristy- was there for 2 weeks the first time -went to Cape Trib to escape the madness- 2nd & 3rd(2011) visits to Cairns confirmed my dislike) but outside of cairns is very good (Cairns’ suburbs are an ok place to live).
Compared to Cairns Port Douglas is not a tourist town! It’s a tropical coastal town and haven for boaties.
I’ve done Kuranda, Sky Car(up)/railway(down). Worth paying extra for the gold(?) ticket! It gets you First Class seating and includes Wine and Cheese (all you can eat/drink) and you can ride to the center of Cairns. The locals price was around $100pp.
Cape Trib is the bomb for a couple. Rainforest literally spills into the sea, closest access to the Reef from mainland (without Japanese tourists vomiting all over the deck). Sleep in Canvas Bungalow in the forest.
It was over 10 years ago when I went but I have the fondest memories of it.
The Barrier Reef is best done by Chopper (avoid the sea sickness), they can only operate in perfect weather so you see the Reef in it’s prime - I believe they land and you can go diving. (I met a girl who flew a chopper out of cairns - but we had a falling out so I can’t confirm).
Mossman Gorge is cool - literally to cold to swim in. There are many similar places (some better) just ask locals (being an Aussie you wont get the bum steer), Everywhere is a long drive so you need to hire a car to go anywhere good.
As much as I hate Cairns City it’s central to many great areas in North QLD, just plan to leave Cairns as much as you can.
At this time of year I would head south coast NSW.
Great Ocean Rd would be another option but it’s getting a bit cold now.
