As long as the message gets across!

Nope.

Poor spelling and/or grammar equates not only to a lack of intellect and/or education, but also a lack of respect for the person or people you are communicating with. The same goes for the inability or refusal to adequately read and/or comprehend what someone else has written, prior to responding.

urm right so for those who’s English is second language, you think they are not educated and that they lack in intelligence and not have respect for the person that they are communicating with that is so much load of shit chucky.

Word, Lano. shaka
I’m trying to learn Croatian at the moment and it’s so bloody hard. Respect for those that can speak (let alone write) more than one language.
Hrvatski - Ne tako dobro!
(I don’t even know if that’s right)

It should go without saying that for what I described to be applicable, those involved would be conversing in their native language.

To master any language, the educational process involves not only learning, but repetitious usage as well. That takes a lot of time and effort, so nobody should expect someone’s second language to be as good as their first.

English is my native language. I’m not fortunate enough to have a second language, although I was taught German at school. When I went snowboarding in Europe, I had to converse in German at times. At those times, my lack of education definitely showed through. I’ve bought various items online from countries where English isn’t the first language. Out of respect, I’ve attempted to converse in their language - but at those times, my lack of education also showed through.

That clear it up?

How does this then explain, that some of the most affluent people in our society, lack both an education and/or grammatical skills in their own native tongue?????

You don’t have to be educated to be affluent.

Often, the most valuable attributes in becoming affluent are resolute confidence and the willingness to take risks. In many areas, high intelligence can actually be a hindrance.

“Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.”
- Charles Darwin

“The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence.”
- Charles Bukowski (paraphrasing Bertrand Russell)

So it looks like being “Intelligent”, can be somewhat “Stupid”!!!!!

Avatar

No, intelligence and stupidity are antonymous.

Avatar

So, what you’re saying is that educated people can be stupid?????

Or that affluence doesn’t equate to intelligence?????

I thought that survival in it’s utmost form, being affluent in society, would’ve been a trait that is acquired through some form of intelligence!!!!!

Or maybe it’s just a genetic thing, much like the ability to mimic things such as Grammar and Spelling????? For example, like a Parrot or a Chimp does!!!!!

There are plenty of educated people who, other than in their area of expertise, are complete idiots (sometimes even in their area of expertise as well). Universities are full of them (just look for pretty much anyone referring to themself as an “academic”). Education does not necessarily equate to intelligence.

Affluence definitely doesn’t equate to intelligence. I already said that. Many people are actually affluent not in spite of their ignorance, but because of it.

Grammar and spelling can’t simply be mimicked “like a parrot or a chimp”, because it takes intelligence and/or education to apply it correctly. The inability to differentiate between the variants of your/you’re, there/their/they’re and where/were/we’re is an appropriate indicator.

Pretty sure there are plenty of intelligent people that are illiterate?????

Genghis Khan was illiterate, yet he commanded one of the biggest Empire’s in history!!!!!

While I’m not certifiably educated myself, I’m damn sure you’d have to be an intelligent person in order to achieve such a feat!!!!!

And, yes Grammar and Spelling is taught by mimicry!!!!! Just like everything that is taught!!!!! I show, you do!!!!!

Only things that haven’t been taught, and rather learnt by experimentation and discovery are things that haven’t needed mimicry!!!!! And there are plenty of examples where this has been achieved by people that are illiterate!!!!!

teacherboy

And what I’ve said is you DON’T have to be literate in order to have intellect and/or be educated!!!!!

You clearly stated otherwise!!!!!

Genghis Khan being an example I gave!!!!!

He was illiterate, yet he was an intellect!!!!!

You clearly state that he wouldn’t have been!!!!! “Poor spelling and/or grammar equates not only to a lack of intellect and/or education”

And as far as his education went, I doubt whether he was a Rhodes Scholar either, but he was certainly educated in the art of War!!!!!

. . . adequately read and/or comprehend what someone else has written, prior to responding.
