Hi everyone,
I have tried on the size 12 vapens and I am going to be trying on the zoom force 1s in the next couple days. I wanted to know what you guys’ opinions on these two boots were? I’m an all mountain rider on a lib attack banana and soon to be probably flux DMCC bindings (posted in the bindings section if anybody has feedback about the bindings its greatly appreciated!) I’m looking for quality performance boots.. I understand a lot of people have beef with nike.. but I’m a ball player.. always worn nike, never will wear adidas or another brand, so if you understand where I’m coming from.. I understand these boots aren’t made for basketball lol but I really can’t resist trying out some nikes.
Btw, just wanted some clarification.. the size 12 fits reaaaally snug, everything feels okay except my toes could possibly be hitting the front of the boot a little too much but the 13 is probably a lil too big and I don’t wanna risk them packing out on top of being roomy already and becoming floppy.. so the general suggestion is to tough it out on the 12 for a bit till they pack out.. correct?
Any feedback about these force 1s or vapens is greatly appreciated! Thank you ahead of time!
anybody? hah
Hey cooldocbk, welcome to Boardworld.
Don’t set yourself on buying just one or two brands when it comes to boots. No matter how good the brand is, or how good quality the boots are, there is a very good chance they won’t work for your particular foot shape. Boots need to be fitted according to your foot shape. So just keep an open mind about other brands. The best bit of advice I can give you is try on as many different boots as possible. Have you tried on other brands? I would at least suggest you throw Burton and 32 into the mix.
In regards to sizing, how hard are your toes hitting the end? Is it just firm pressure at the tips of your toes, or are your toes actually bending/curling at the end? How often will you be riding? In my opinion, it’s always better to go smaller rather than bigger (boots pack out and you can always expand the boot if necessary).
anybody? hah
Haha I started typing before you posted this.
Hey again cooldocbk!!!!!
Like rider26 says, buy on fit not brand/colour etc when it comes to boots!!!!!
Havin said that I recently become a NIKE Fan myself!!!!! (Last boots were VANS, purchased solely on fit also)
I chose my NIKE DK Zoom’s over the Zoom Force 1’s at the time, cause I liked the fit/feel better on the DK!!!!!
I wanted a stiff/responsive boot that had standard laces, and the DK was the one that ticked the boxes for me!!!!!
After 20 on mountain days in Japan just recently, and they did pack out a little, so if ya go with the 12 I reckon you’ll be comfy as after a week or two!!!!! (Unless ya get them blown out at the shop when ya get them)
* Also note that the reason why tried NIKE on was that their shoes fit my foot shape inreal, and I just had to see what their boots were like in that regard!!!!!
Pretty sure that there is a few of the Crew o here that have the Zoom Force’s, so they’ll no doubt fill ya in on them!!!!!
Ohh, and at the time I tried the DK’s there wasn’t a Vapen for a comparison for me to go by!!!!!
So, sorry can’t help ya there!!!!!
I understand being limited to one brand is not a good idea because chances are a lot of the boots within a brand fit really similar so ill take that into consideration.. for now, since i live in cali and no where carries these nikes in store, i found a nike outlet in oregon and one in new hampshire, one purple dk in a size 12 which i will order, and a zoom force 1 in the black snake skinny looking colorway.. anyway i have to wait a few days for them to come in the mail before i can try them on and decide which i will be returning to my local outlet. would it be a bad idea to buy my bindings before i finalize my decision on boots? or should i put the bindings on hold until i know which boots im going to decide on? as you can tell im excited lol, always get stoked
thank you all for the replies, and thank you for the warm welcome!
more input is appreciated!
I don’t think it’s a bad idea to get your bindings now. Flux bindings work with all boots. If you wanted to get something like the Ride Contrabands, then I would say wait because they don’t work well with all boots.
More input you say?
You relivin ya old childhood memories again, rider?????
Ohh yeah despite his weirdness, he’s right, cool!!!!! They’ll fit the DMCC’s no sweat!!!!!
mmm contrabands, i love my ones. im going ot bust them out again this season me thinks
hahaha thanks guys!
planning on phone ordering a ZF1 and DK from out of state nike outlets both in a size 12. returning whichever one doesnt workout to my local nike outlet.
anybody have any experience or know of anyone with experience of whether one doesn’t last very well or durability?
Can’t really shed any light on durability of either NIKE’s!!!!!
My DK’s have 20 Days ridin, and so far nothing has worn or broken yet!!!!!
My guess is that the Zoom Force 1 will be of similar quality build?????
sorry for so many questions but i think this should be the last one!
so i just realized that the ZF1 that are available to me are the black/white colorway thats kind of like a crackle look to the leather which i know is a 2013 model… but what i did not know was that the DK that is available to me is the mostly black with purple swoosh which i guess is a 2010 model?
is the older model much different from the 2013 DK? should I not be as stoked about it anymore or is it pretty much the same? cant find much info about it online
They’re exactly the same boot!!!!!
thats great thank you mizu kuma!
