I might go paddle around Newport Reef on a SUP like yesterday at lunch I think, it is nice weather indeed!

How the hell do you guys find jobs like this?? I’m working everyday but fri/sun as we are closed today I’m doi g 6-4 (or 5) and have a 40 min drive home after that.. And Thursday and Saturday in starting at 4/4:30am and most likely not getting out till 4or 5.. Depending on how busy we are.. I hate retail!! :(

much rather be at the beach for a snorkel or even a swim in the surf.. Or even attempting to skate again..

DRC and I work for ourselves (thats how I like to glam up my contract work! LOL)

I have had some very very shitty jobs in my time! The good outweighs the bad and I think i def deserved this role on the whole karma scale!

But also remember DRC is taking a pay cut for his!

Money isn’t the issue for me.. I used to live off 450 a week quite comfortably..  ( I would like more..) But these hours are really starting to get to me.. Feels like all I get to do all week is work.. And occasionally catch up with people on a day off.. I got home yesterday and slept from 7:30 till 4:30 this morning.. Right through dinner.. Basically walking in from work just after 6, showered.. Put the tv on.. Sat on the bed and woke up to my alarm this morning lol I seem to try to fit everything in till I get so exhausted that I just pass out and sleep 10-12 hours every like 4-5 days.

actually looking at stepping down (back to 38 hours) and doing some online study.. Atm I’m working about 60+ hours a week :(

But another thing to think about is looking at other retail manager jobs.

Supermarkets is a whole other kettle of fish cause they are open so long now!

I could totally see you working at Diva or something like that (as the manager or even Assistant store manager to start!) I think your current skills would transfer well!

Yes there is still working work but most shops are now open at 10am! Think how much better you will feel sleeping in!

Actually looking at dropping retail all together.. Been here since i was 14..  I left about 2006 and actually worked for a just under a year at goldmark (jewelry store) didn’t like it so went back to where I am…  Lol

I used to work 50-60 hours a week for anywhere between about $184-250 a week when I was an apprentice plumber back in the day.  I then worked about 45hours a week for about $500-600 when I first went into AV and security but a lot of that was time away from home as well working for 4-5 days in country NSW.  After that I was working similar hours for a security mob as a tech then project manager for 3-4 years, all varied working hours, some overnight stuff, early starts, night work but generally about 45hours a week.  After that I went into corporate 9-5 job for about a year and then went into full time sales and being responsible for a target not the number of hours worked.  Doesn’t matter when I do my work as long as I hit or exceed targets.

I don’t know if I could ever work a job that required set hours again, lifestyle is of hge importance to me and I cannot stand being told what to do in terms of being treated like a schoolkid which is how I view 9-5 type stuff.

Yep as oz said I work for myself which has its advantages but also disadvantages (the upcoming public holidays are lost pay to me)

Lost pay? I’m on salary.. I get paid 8 hours at standard rate ( albeit more than the average rate.. Per hours I’m worse off) I don’t get holiday rates.. I get another day owed to me (toil day) but I will work minimum 12 hours that day and get 8 hours off for it.. ) so it still doesn’t work out that great. Lol

Im that stoked when you get let go early from night FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF YEAH

I currently earn about $550/fn, debts to my eyeballs (pay around $1000 month for them), work 25hrs every 2nd fri-sun, get some cash work on the side to pay my $140/week fuel costs, go to sleep at 1am up at 5/6am weekdays, do 9hrs a week yard maintenance to pay rent/food, all my spare time is tied up in video and edit work (basically from the time I wake up until I go to sleep when I’m not doing other work above), then there are the hours being a dad (which includes a 2hr round trip for the school run and 4hrs at nippers (nippers is great as it’s the only time I can afford to get in the surf - only this weekend was the last until next summer).

On the weekends that I work I don’t sleep, unless you call 3hrs in the car at 5am “sleep” on Sat morn and 20min when I can, when there are no customers Sat night. Sunday morn I get to sleep again at 5/6am (depending on after work drinks) if I sleep in the car I try to wake up for a surf. If I go home I’m lucky to sleep until 10am.
It’s a 40min drive at 4am work-home.

Until your a parent you don’t know exhaustion.
Even on my daughters weekend I might do one shift/weekend - on that night I get about 2hrs sleep until she wants me up and doing something - usually something that would cost money like go-karting, most things she’s interested in I’ve traded video work to do it.

Even with all that I’m pretty stoked on life, my daughter and my work. And now she’s got back into surfing and wants to snowboard this winter, it makes it worth it and a good excuse to do those things.

Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.

stoked working on Good Friday extra moneys for me ... which will be going towards my post skibum debts…

Also stoked from Sunday onwards I’ll be heading to Bells beach to watch the ripcurl pro :D
