Boots with good shock absorption

O.k., thanks a lot to all of you! From the ones I tested so far I like the Northwave Domains best. Problem:

I am touching them slightly with my toes in the front. I am not used to this although it seems to be quite common. Just didn’t experience this with the cheap boots I used so far. Does anybody know if this is a problem or if it will disappear.

Also I am not quite sure, if they cause pressure points that are seroius. They have some rougher matierial inside to keep the heels down. Not as rough as in the Malamutes, which I heard may cause blisters from that. And there may be a pressure point below the ankle, maybe caused from the metal roles keeping the laces.

Anybody familiar with Northwave who could guess if this can get bad or is just something which disappaers with use?

If your toes are only touching the ends just a little bit, (without being uncomfortable) that’s a good thing. They’ll pack in after a few days riding.

agreed.  That’s how I bought mine and they’ve packed out beautifully.  I remember reading some rule of thumb thing that went something like:

riding 1-5 days per season - go for your regular shoe size with toes not touching the end
5-15 days - toes brushing the end of the boot (1 size down)
15+ - toes bent a little (2 sizes down)

Hi goose,
Those T1’s are ancient. We’re moving on to 2014 gear for this coming season. That would make the those ‘05-‘06 boots eight or nine generations old.

Domain SL = epic boot. Quite stiff but that’s fine if you want a solid, responsive boot. Nowhere near as stiff as they’d have u believe though. The shock absorption on those Domains (crossbow sole) is phenomenal.

Don’t buy a nine year old boot dude… They’ve come a long way in that time. You’re comparing a horse drawn cart with a Ferrari f1 car.

wink

Oh and regarding your toes. Get the boots that feel TIGHT!!! They’re only gonna get bigger as you wear them. Nothing worse than a loose fitting boot. A little bit of pain never hurt anyone!!!!
