Mizu, we could but that would stretch out smaller images, making them pixelated. The best option is to just add another button for larger images. What you think?
I’m not all that great with code.. or even know if this is possible.. (I assume it is, because my Lightroom has it)But can it have a sort of a,
If; image = +800px, resize to 800px
Else; leave at original px size?
In other words… when I export images for online (eg Facebook) I have them at 1000px max on the longest side, and then have a box ticked that prevents it from making the image bigger is its already smaller than the 1000px…
Also as Oz said.. maybe see if there is a way to apply the resize to the longest side.. not just the width?
Also new graphics are looking awesome!! Really looking forward to playing with the new site once launched,This one is more of a gimmick… but one forum I was on had a chat box on the right.. and you should leave a small message on it.. kind of like twitter but built into the site.. was pretty good..
Maybe in bio have a section where you can put all your gear… eg. Board: bindings: etc. ( we have that for car mods on one of the Mazda forums I’m on)
We will definitely look into the resizing options. Automatic resizing wasn’t possible on the current system (we looked into it a while ago), but the new system might be able to handle more advanced features. Either way, we will come up with serval solutions for the current problem. We might be able to do all images in-house (hosted on our server) with a lot of automatic sizing features.
I think we are going to give the chatbox a miss for two reasons: Other sites with the chatbox have a huge SPAM problem. It’s just filled with links to things like viagra etc. Also, I think it would take away from the forums, and we really want the forums to thrive and be the heart and soul of Boardworld.
Bios… all over it. One of the things we will be developing and making a lot more useful (and fun) are your profile pages. I am unsure if this will be fully built when we launch the site, but they will be developed very soon after at latest. We have ideas for what we will be building into the profile, but what would you guys like to see?
