Hammarbybacken- The middle of Stockholm
Right in the centre of town. I raced down here to ride one night with some friends. It was really fun because thursday nights are the Stockholm snowboard clubs get togethers and the park was shaped for them that night. Riding around in a massive crew of 30+ snowboarders was really fun and slightly unusual to see the slopes dominated by snowboarders.
Fika break

fun little gap to flat to gap roller kicker thingy

The Kings Mountain (Kungsberget) - 3hrs Nth of Stockholm
I had heard a few years ago that this little hill had one of the best red lines in Sweden. So as I was based in Uppsala near Stockholm for 2weeks of this trip, I decided to check it out. I caught a bus on my own one day when I was bored. I got a super special price which was under $50Aus for bus trip and lift pass.
This is the main line of jumps
From the top- these jumps are actually way bigger than they look. the bigger one on the left has a kicker about the same size as the last kicker in Perisher front valley.
I hit the one on the right a few times but it was on the limits of what I am comfortable with
Half way down- this part of the park is soooo much fun. There are three different sized kicks on each mound.
This airbag and another kicker are at the end of the park. I have never hit an airbag before and am not sure why I actually did it when riding alone. The gap was massive and I only just made it onto the bag. Needless to say I shat myself in the air when I thought I wasn’t going to make it. Turns out they had the take off run pretty much perfect to straight line in. Spose I should have watch another snowboarder hit it first.
I had a great time hitting the middle line of jumps all day and then went off and started spouting to everyone about how good it was.
In the last few days of my trip I managed to meet up with Cords Freddy and Dorkfaced killer my youngest brother (they drove 4hrs to get there), Another brother Trout face, My wifey and some friends from Stockholm at Kungsberget, Cords has some pics from that day on her trip report. Everyone came from different directions and travelled at least two and half hours. All the Swedes thought we were weird to do this, they think we are crazy to drive 6hrs to the snow in Australia (e.g ’ you have a season pass to a mountain 6hrs away???? what is wrong with you?”). It turned out to be one of the most fun days of the trip. Ended up hitting the jumps on the left on the lower part of the park as well which I was really happy with, I only did grabs and shifties on them but hey, I didnt even think I would be able to ride the park at all this trip so I am happy. Cords and I were a bit iffy about them even though Freddy and another mate Johan had hit them a few times. We egged each other on a bit and I went first and hit the Knuckle, that put cords off for a bit. haha
I updated the first few posts as well. Sorry about the shitty photos, most are just off my phone.
Ill ad some videos as well probably.

Åre Sweden biggest resort (6hrs North of Stockholm)
I know this mountain very well, I have done four seasons here and been there a few other times for a month at a time.
This trip I only spent 4days there all up, two in the park and two in powder. It snowed 60 cm + in two days at the end of my trip and the it was sunny for a few hours in the morning of both days. Snow was pretty good but it was windy during the night so the best spots were in the trees or on sheltered sides of the mountains. It was fun to catch up with a lot of old friends here and ride some good snow and fun parks

The day after hiking that spot, I was on the tbar you can see at the base of the first picture and there was a big avalanche across the lift line, it had snowed 40cm plus since we had hiked. It was in a snow storm and there was one person caught who set off the avalanche and they suspected more were trapped. They got the first guy out straight away then It was basically chaos and it really brought home how dangerous these slides can be. There was a few ski patrol and a few randoms running around with beacons and probes but other than the guy that set the slide off anyone trapped was likely to be people riding on piste and the chances of anyone (including the ones who set it off) having beacons was tiny. I had a shovel and nothing else on me so basically just stood around waiting to be called in to dig if they probe someone. After about 15mins they got probe lines going as more people turned up and 20 or so patrollers and lifties got on the scene. Luckily no one else was buried, it took them 2hours to be 100% sure. but if they were it was like searching for a needle in a haystack in really bad vis.

You are right, they are sooooo BIG! They still scare me when I think about it. The first one especially is so damn steep and tall.
What an amazing trip
Scary stuff when you have slides like that inbounds
