The BOARDWORLD Forums ran from 2009 to 2021 and are now closed and viewable here as an archive
The idea is to find a picture that as close to possible resembles the cars that have played a role in your life.
Try and list the age you were and what role it played.
Pretty easy - just use google images and copy image url then post it here.
Or use a photo of actual car if you have it.
I’ll start.
Don’t know how old I was but it’s the first car I remember.
“Danny Datsun” - Datsun 120y
Our family car.
Car I learnt to drive in. 16yo
Ours was hand painted a gold colour! (Dad built the whole car!)
Ours was the family car too! My whole life! It was the car we took to the snow.
3rd grade I remember coming out of school and mum had just bought one of these.
No back seats. Me and my sister had to ride on the wheel arches.
They had a 2 stroke engine!
I learnt to drive in one of these beasts
My favourite car i have ever owned;
I will have another at some point
*Not mine but same colour
I learnt to drive in one of these beasts
Oh TJ that explains a LOT!
Mine may have been old but it was cool!
The 8 track made it amazeballs

My old man had one of these for a few years in my early teens, mum made him sell it before I got the chance/was old enough to drive it sadly, well that was his version of events anyways I’d love to own one now!!

And this is the piece of poo I learnt to drive in, but it was blue and still crappy!
EDIT:
Reduced size of all van images as they were “offensive” and SHOULD NEVER be more dominate than most of the other cars in this thread. If is van is good, ok, but not L300’s and Tarago’s :vomit smiley:
spaz
Haha go the boardworld van club!
This was essentially my first “car” hand me down. It wasn’t the poverty model like this picture. Mine was kitted out with a bull bar and brown racing stripe!
It was very popular at high school, but that also could have been because I was one of the few in the grade with my P’s
First car, The Kingswood, 253, Tri Matic auto, looked like this when I bought it
ended up looking like this, with 2.5” system, extractors, LSD and a 308 with a tweaked carby and mild cam.
*not dinted, lots lower, with dragway five spoke rims, GTS dash and pimped out trim
I am on iPad can get the image working so this is my first car
It was stock for little while lol
EDT: trying to fix the link for you Lanox. It takes me to
all
nissan sliva google results. Which colour? (I just chose white for now) Will resize when correct colour.
TIP: When in google images click on image then copy url (don’t do it just on the google preview thumbnail).
This was the first car I paid money for. First manual as well.
After we sold the Suzuki our family car became a Datsun Pulsar. It was the year Datsun became Nissan.
In 1986 I played a big part in the purchase of our next car convincing dad to spend extra for the “sport” version that had all the extras - 4 speaker stereo with tape deck, mag wheels, sport steering wheel and metallic paint. Some of my learning was done in it and when I got my P’s drove it a lot. It stayed with us over 10 years and even did my 3rd season in the snow.

But this is the car I first drove, first car I paid for (before I even had my L’s) - I bought it for mum after they divorced.
Our version was actually a converted HJ with a 202 full bore, holly carby, extractors, wild cam, 4-on-the-floor. It had GTS side gills and a GTS dash. Way quicker than stock 308. Mum was often pulled over by the police (but never fined?). Mum taught me how to get a car sideways in a control skid while on my learners.
She traded it for a 308 HZ Premier which I did most of my learner hours in.
Factory lowered, factory tint and very tidy, it had the canvas roof. Both the HJ and HZ were kermit green and both named “Kermit”.
The HZ was gangsta.
Did my drivers test in my grandfathers Ford Lazer.

We find another common denominator!
Was it a HJ or HZ?
heres me and my first ever mini, loved that car!! still have its shell but all the go fast bits are now in another one that is nearly ready to put back on the road!
