Adobe programs/applications work similarly, but not the same. I can’t stand working in Adobe on Windows.
It makes a complete sense that Shillington wants its students to use only Mac - to keep keyboard shortcuts consistent.
It’s also because the college uses Macs. All the computers we work on during class are Macs.
It’s interesting, he asked the whole class who uses PC / Mac. Every person in the class (about 25 of us) use Mac. He said he asked the same question 10 years ago and only one person in the class was using Mac. Not trying to start a debate, just thought it was interesting.

Hence the need for keyboard command consistency.
I think it is pretty amazing too Rider!
It shows how one little product has changed a company’s future and a gerneration of computer uses.
Most people I know switched to Mac because of the joy of using ipod then iphones. Not really becuase of any other reason.
It is marketing genius no one can dispute that.
And Adobe CS products. People rave at how much better they are on Macs, though it works fine on my PC but I do have a pretty damn good one.
I’m sure there are plenty of people who got taught CS on a collage mac or highschool mac and therefore decided to stay with it. My sister uses macs because the high school gave them all one for their year 11 and 12.
Thats marketing genius!

Here is a list of the different shortcuts for each platform.
Thanks for the link.
I love keyboard shortcuts, LOVE THEM!
Hey guys,
Quick question…
I think I’m going for:
21.5-inch: 2.7GHz
Will get the 1TB Fusion drive for an extra $275
Still tossing up whether to pay an extra $220 for the extra 8MB of Ram. Worth it? Sorry, I know I’ve asked this before.
And going on what you guys were saying before, not worth buying the Apple DVD drive? Even though I need to install some stuff with DVDs. I assume there are better options out there.

Hard to answer as it depends how much value you put on a dollar.
Personally I wouldn’t bother. Sure the extra ram will make it faster sometimes (but even then it won’t be like night and day) but it will function perfectly well the majority of the time with the base specs (8gb). If you end up doing work that “requires” 16gb+ constantly then the ram probably isn’t going to be your only bottleneck in that system so you will just deal with it then i.e put the $220 towards another computer in the future when/if 16gb becomes minimum specs.
Negative to the Apple DVD drive.
You save $10-$20 buying the DVD drive elsewhere. I have a spare external DVD drive I’ll give you so don’t bother getting it.
And because you’ll void warranty installing after market RAM it would be worth getting the 8<b>GB<> ram now.
Tambo and I have 27”, mine is 4gb Ram, Tambo’s 8gb Ram, when you run them side by side, it shows, the 8 kicks arse.
Photoshop and Aperture really show the difference. Spend the $$$, you won’t be sorry
Thanks guys, appreciate the input.
spaz, that would be rad. Don’t want to take it off you but if I could borrow it just to install some software I previously purchased, that would be awesome!
Another question…
Is there any way to connect a MacBook Pro to an iMac, purely to use the laptop as a disc drive for installing software to the iMac?
You can share your DVD drive in windows with a right click and about 2 minutes…
Not sure how to do it with macs though, sorry.
