I am in Sweden…sort of a last minute trip. We only booked a couple of weeks ago but had been thinking about it for a while.
I have been super busy with some grant applications so haven’t been around lately. I finished them at 3am today yeeew, so here I am.
I think ill do a bit of a trip report with mostly photos and video.
to be continued after night riding
Ill leave you with a photo of me about to get sprayed in the face by one of my little brothers. That is always popular.
and my little sister getting in on the act (she only learnt how to do backside sprays like this that day)
Sooooo
Came over via Singapore. We were very careful when it came to buggys??!
Did family things for the first few days in Uppsala. Then headed North to a town called Östersund to meet one of my brothers who lives there and also get in two days of riding with my sister who was in the country with bf Joao (who is floating about on BW).
The offenders in question.
The lake in town, looking out of the cafe/warm room at the snowboard resort in town
Östersund only has a very small hill called Gustavsberget with three lifts and two runs. One of the runs only just opened and has a really fun red line park with about 3 jumps and 6 boxe/rails. I bought a season pass for the hill for about $120.
Riding with Pasha my russian mate and looking back over Ostersund
The two days in Östersund I spent hanging on the hill and catching up with mates
Got in two days of riding which seemed to be mostly about everyone trying to spray me in the face with snow and a night shred with about 12 snowboarding friends doing laps of the park
me throwing some snow
Awesome mate! Definitely looking forward to seeing more!
YEAH !!!!!! Looking forward to this report
those pics look great! cant wait for more
whoops, I havent had a chance to update this, I planned on doing it all the train/bus trips i am doing but always ended up talking to someone or sleeping
I am up to my 5th resort in a week . Tonight Ill attempt to put something together. ust quietly…How fun does that airbag in Cords blog look!
I’m going to try for 5 resorts in a season and I thought I’d be doing well. Sälen, (all 4 ski areas) and Trysil so far…Kläppen, Stöten and Hemsedal still to come…maybe Åre/Vemdalen at somestage if petrol somehow becomes magically cheap or I become magically rich. Would love to go check out Funäsdalen as well.
this is all wicked! I get so amped seeing other peoples trip reports!! Cam’t wait for Canada 13/14 :D

-
Åre
Vemdalen
The spots underlined in red are the places I rode
SKIDLEK (ski play)
Skidlek is a little area in the town of Ostersund (6hrs NW of Stockholm) that you can get to riding down from the local hill, they have a few snow guns, a few jumps and about 4 rails and 4 boxes, lights and you can move stuff and build what ever you want but there is no lift. Its fun with a crew and it costs nothing.
Riding through the fields from the local hill down to skidlek
My first jump in about 12months, injury free and doing indys
moving stuff about in the park
another night at skidlek, a few of us built two lines of mini jumps.
Snow forts!
JARVSO- a little mountain 4.5hrs Nth of Stockholm
My wifes family booked a house right on top of the mountain for four days. I knew nothing about the resort but when I turned up I was surprised to find it had double the snow of the resorts around it and the park was fun (and empty).
Wife takes wrong turn
view off the back verandah
view after I decided to ride down one lunch time
It had snowed quite a bit the night before we got there
Park inspection
This was my favourite place to piss on the mountain

NEW GEAR
I rarely get new gear and from memory have only ever had one brand new board (the GNU park pickle I ride now).Luckily for me, my brother just started working for a snowboard company and gets a 50% discount, that is on sale items as well and these last two weeks they had a sale that started at 30% off and increased 5% off everyday. Needless to say I took the chance to get some gear….this is what I got. All for a round $330. Bamm! None of it is the latest gear its all either 2012 or 2013 but thats ok.
come down this week and you can add Salen, Klappen and Trysil to the list!
