@PDWatt: Thanks for the clear up PDWatt. I agree mine is more like flat-camber-flat than rocker-camber-rocker.
Update on today’s 20+cm pow day at whistler. Got 2 good runs down whistler bowl-shale slope and west bowl. This board floats man, I have way less leg burn compared when I’m using my T.Rice. I can’t wait to try this board on a 50+cm pow day. So far I’m loving it in powder.
The base got some minor damage though towards the end of the day from rocks =(, but nothing that needs repairing. I also noticed along with the base a bit slower and softer than my T.Rice, it also dries up faster. I notice some white spot (like you see when a base is dry) near the edges only after 3 days of riding.
Answering the other question. Sorry, can’t take your $10. YES. is owned by Romain De Marchi, DCP, JP Solberg and Tadashi Fuse.
^ Taking what little there was left of his credibility was worth far more than a measly ten bucks.
Been wearin my YES T-Shirt a few times over here in Japow, and been gettin some thumbs up from the locals!!!!!
Even had a convo to one dude that said he was good mates with Tadashi!!!!!

I think you will find Gamblor has a lot of credibility with a lot of people on here still.
Sure, in other areas, but NOT in this one.
Don’t sweat it, Gamblor - maybe you could go ‘double or nothing’? Perhaps $20 might buy you the admission that K2 is no longer a ski company?
I’ll have $20 on K2 bein just as much a Board Co as it is a Ski Co!!!!!
I bet there’s Die Hard Ski Wankers that don’t buy their Planks just cause K2 make Snowboards too!!!!!
It’s really time to give all the Us V’s Them a f’kin rest!!!!!
I just wanna ride great pow, eat good grub, and drink piss!!!!!
If ya wanna consume ya life with petty bullshit, go right ahead!!!!!
I’m gonna consume good times instead!!!!!
K2 Ski Company makes 57 models of ski, but K2 Ski Company’s snowboard division only makes 23 models of snowboard.
“Die Hard Ski Wankers” wouldn’t mind that some ski companies also sell snowboards - because they know that the profits still go to the parent ski companies.
Choosing to spend your money in a manner that best benefits snowboarding isn’t “petty bullshit” - sticking your head in the sand and pretending it doesn’t matter is.
I’d rather stick my head in the powder and still be able to laugh at myself, rather than worry about shit that wankers get all upset about!!!!!
Like I said, it’s time to get over it!!!!!
Unless ya want it to be like Muslim V’s Jew, ya really gotta let it go cause it’s a war that nobody wins!!!!!
Wanker will ALWAYS be Wanker!!!!! No matter what they ride!!!!!
Choosing to spend your money in a manner that best benefits snowboarding isn’t being a “wanker” - implying that people who choose to spend their money in a manner that best benefits snowboarding are “wankers” is.
Back to the original topic please, before this escalated to another debate. Please do the arguing on the other thread.
Question to PDWatt:
Does YES downgrade their bases from 8800 sintered to 2000 sintered for next year?
I just talked to Alex, the head designer for YES. and he said “8800 sintered carbon base” was a Nidecker marketing name, and that the 2000 sintered GST uses are much better. The number is supposed to refer to the length of the molecules in the base material, (but it doesn’t correspond proportionally - 2000 may have a weight of 3.5 million) and that “8800” Polyethylene bases don’t actually exist. He said that if you want a faster board, choose the board that’s got the mostly black base (carbon sintered) with less coloured diecut as opposed to the mostly coloured one with less black. All board manufacturers with die cut bases put opposing colours of the diecuts on the bases so they don’t throw out tons of base material. YES.‘s fastest board is the 420 which has no diecut on the base (except for a white circle at the tip), and is all carbon sintered. The biggest thing by far on any base is the right wax on a base ground flat. The right temperature fluorinated wax on a textured base tune will make just about any base fly.
Thanks for the info! I didn’t know black base is faster than white/colored base.
So does the GST produced PYL feel a lot more different? Most of the review I read seem to be on the Nidecker version and one reviewer said he liked 2013 (Nidecker) better than 2012 because it was softer and more playful. Does it not perform in pow as well as nidecker one? I was thinking of picking up PYL for when I go on trips (go to vancouver / whistler for about 3 weeks every year) but it wont perform much better in pow than my Greats, I might just pass.
