Oh just remembered I guess this is a latest purchase for me as I picked them up yesterday. If you want a good laugh I’ll be testing them out at Wanda Beach park.

someone please attend with a video camera!!! LOL

Haha too late!

Managed to pull a crowd of fascinated boys who proceeded to ask me 50 questions in the middle of a set of dips.

Mate they are amazing. Substantially harder to use than parallel bars. Great for a large variety of exercises pullups, dips, rows, pushups, muscleups, extensions etc. All you need is a veranda, tree, monkey bars to hang them from.

I’m actually in the process of cancelling my gym membership. I’ve hit the point where I just cbf with weights any more so I’m delving into outdoor/bodyweight based training.

Got them off ebay. I couldn’t justify the price of the wooden ones considering I won’t be chalking or competing. All I did was make sure I got the ones rated for decent weight and 6m strap length.

Haha you would use the rings as part of crossfit? This was my first real session using rings. Most things came naturally enough but I got stuck on the transition from pullup to dip in the muscle up and I refuse to kip. Will need to work on it and try them before rather than after I dip next time.

Definitely looking forward to the new challenge though.

yeh mate, muscle ups are a fairly core component of crossfit comps.

Ahhh that is the sticking point, kipping does help. maybe give it a shot to get the feel of the movement then try without kipping?

Nice, I’ll give that a try next time. It’s going to take me a while to transition into this new style of training away from the gym as I could pretty much do a gym program with my eyes closed (it was an impulse decision to quit).

I’m still getting my head around how I’m going to replace some of the bigger compound movements i.e deads and squats but looking forward to the challenge.
