SDS + Snow Deprivation Syndrome
Aha I knew there must be a technical name for it!
At this stage will be own as much as possible on weekends, accomodation? who effing knows. may camp sometimes with NBG and Dyldo. Or if i get this job i will have a place down there.
Yea ill probs be more inclined to the camp side of things this season now ive got a ute again
No idea wtf I will be doing but I am going to try and go as much as possible
Have they finished the over taking lane in the “black spot” we discussed (were there is no overtaking for 60km)?
No idea, havent been out that way since winter.
I would suggest this snow season that people completely avoid Majura Road and go via Queanbeyan or through other roads in Canberra. The road works begin at the Federal Highway and continue all the way through to the beginning of the Monaro Highway (near the airport)

When i went to jindy for work a couple of months ago there was some road works going on inbetween canberra-jindy, cant remember where exactly
Dude thats a long stretch of road! Like 150km. Always roadworks somewhere on it.
well where ever it was it appeared to be adding an overtaking lane
Guys, there is always roadworks at this time of year. They plan it for now so that it’s finished by snow season.
Don’t fret, get back to us if this is still the case in 4 months…
We usually go either jindy inn.. as the owners are this lovely couple and we always chat to them.. and they include breakfast too.. ( its basically a room with a bathroom, and like 1 bunk (2 people) a single bed and a double bed (so 5 people all up.. which is the base for our group ( that ALWAYS goes ). But I have a feeling we will have extras this year.. ( got a few more people into it last year hehe.)
If we have more than the 5 but too few for two rooms, we usually rent a house for the weekend as it works out cheaper,, and we get a house for the longer stints..
Last year we got an awesome place for the 10 nights.. with 10 people.. worked out $5,500 all up.. so $550 each.. which was $50 a night… and it had a lake view, 2 bathrooms 2 car garage,, and heated tile floors through out, except in the bedrooms which were carpeted.. ( but this year its on a 12 month lease.. I was so devo when I saw that)
Ozgirl’s parents have a place and they rent out rooms.
And I can organise the shred shed for dates outside of the shred (if it’s available). 2011 (spring) pricing ended up to be around $130 a week for 20, per person. It can be less for smaller groups as the place has two accom set ups. And it’s in Thredbo!
PATS PATCH! OMG, love/hate that spot.
I must dig up the vid of the time we trucked in a few tonn of snow and had a jib sesh there.
I lived there for 6 weeks one season.

The Majura Parkway development is set to take 4 years… so expect a lot of delays for the next few seasons!

My old housemates have a place in Jindy as well which sleeps up to 4 (queen/twin (you can split the queen) and a fold out couch). I’m sure they’d love the business if they put it up again.
Mr.h0z and I got offered the patch caravan we stayed in for 4k a year for the next 3 years.. It sleeps about 10.. And there is about 8 of us that have the freedom pass and will go regularly, making it 500 each for all season… Buuuut that place needs alot of work as its been trashed over the seasons..
When we went (Aug, 2010) we lost the first day boarding just to clean the place.. so we are thinking with the money and time fixing it will take that it might not be worth it..

Depending on how often you go and time it will be free, you could probably cover some of the cost by renting it to friends / other people while you’re not there. But you’d have to trust them. And you’d have to clean / fix it which would take time / effort.
Yeh it was more the time and cost of fixing it that’s a prob.. I work minimum 50 hours a week.. So when I do snow trips I only go every 2nd weekend.. So I can sleep every alternative one.. And we usually all save our holidays/momey for the trips.. So getting people down before the season might be difficult.. It would Probs take 2-3 weekends to get to a decent liveable state.. :(
