Sochi Volunteers
I don’t know about anyone else but the process seems a bit confusing. I just sent a message to do my EF test today and it was dated on Feb 7 , 13 . It says at the bottom EF TEST INFO. Even thou it is dated last week I am assuming I will get the actually test soon..I am assuming the test is not to bad.

Thanks for your help regarding the English test, which I just finished. How long after the English test did you do your Skype interview. I am from Canada and I think doing this will be an amazing experience. I hope to work one of the events like hockey, Speedskating or alright almost any event.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, they told me that they were using local volunteers for the U18 hockey test event in April. Email I recieved is below.
Dear Dan, thank you for your letter and sorry for late reply. You’re not required to come for the test events, these will be covered by local volunteers. We still go on with application process and will hope to have evaluation results by May. Anyway we will notify all our candidates.

I was interviewed back in October, and have sent occasional emails. Keeping my fingers crossed, I purchased tics to the mens gold medal hockey game and the mens curling gold.
Well, you’re partially correct in your information. After speaking to several of the Sr. Recruiting Managers (and one of the Sochi residents that are volunteering at the test events) the letter you received was correct. They are looking for a majority of “local” volunteers to work the test events. (i.e. they will actually show up and not use their facilities just to attend the events for free)
However, depending on your CZ there are still volunteer positions available for the test events including the U-18 Tournament depending on the number of Sochi volunteers and Russian Volunteers chosen. In fact there have been several Canadian volunteers already chosen and will be attending the event in April. The exact number has not been determined yet, however, because of the time frame they will have a decision very soon.
Part of the delay has been the overwhelming response to the call for Russian volunteers. Volunteerism in Russia is not as prevalent as it is in other parts of the world and the sheer number of inquiries caught them a little off guard. (off the record) Regardless if you have made it through all three rounds of the process there is a very good chance (but not guaranteed) that you will be accepted into the volunteer program for the Olympics in February 2014.
Regardless, I’m still excited for the opportunity to work either and/or a test event, a non-test event this fall, and of course the Winter Olympics in February! Continued good luck to you, and hopefully we can share our experience with the others on the board with a pint in Sochi!

Thanks for the insight; with your contacts, you do have a lot of info Rob. Ultimately, my main goal is to volunteer at the games, so I can live without a test event.

I don’t think I’m a “local” volunteer. Trip to Sochi costs me all my savings. They said I had to be on the test event or I wouldn’t be a volunteer during Winter Games.
So, when I come back from Sochi I’ll write you how it’s look like (accommodation, meals etc.) If you want of course.

I just had my skype interview. I hope THEY think it went well, or at least above average. Same questions were asked that other people have posted:

Thanks to all of you I was prepared for such questions and studied up first. 
My interviewer became disconnected at the end of the interview, I waited, and when she came back on (half an hour later) she said they were having internet problems and that we were done anyways. I didn’t get to ask any questions at the end, but it seems as though there haven’t been too many answers anyways.
She was very kind and pleasant, and after many answers she said “ok, good, good answer”, so I’m not too worried about having been cut off.
Vancouver was so much fun, I am just itching to do it all again in Sochi!
I was a more recent applicant, so I hope that I have skills they are looking for and do have too much of yet!

I still haven’t had any word on the summer testing or what not. Im hoping that out of the collective sum of people here one of us will get new and exciting news about what the next step in this process is.
Also, if i have to pay to fly and get trained over the summer for the winter Olympics, i think i’ll just withdrawal. i dont have that kind of money for two plane tickets (summer 13 and Winter 14). Anyone else agree or at least in the same mind set?
They won’t make you fly to one of the hardest places to get to to do training in the off season. They may ask you to get in a few days early but seriously how much training will we need….
Angiodan, I’m going for Alpine Skiing European Cup Finals.
Training depents from which position you will work on as a volunteer. I chose sport so they want to check me how I can cope with skiing. And they need to do this on the track, to be sure I’ll handle with my work during Winter Games. If someone pick position where the most important it’s cooperation with a lot of people, will have indoor training, focuse on psychological things. This type of training may take place at any time. TJswish has right.

Hi guys, I’ve got one technical question about applying for interview, after mark date and submitted I didn’t get confirmation email about my interview. I don’t know now, my interview is actualy or I should mail them about that problem?
