Tonga - Anyone Been There?

Messaging mates on FB last night about surf trips and was browsing through some other stuff on the internet and became kinda interested in Tonga as a cheaper destination for a surf trip with the added bonus of no malaria dramas usually associated with Indo land trips.  It would appear from brief research that there is abundant surf and I could get there and back and stay for 7 days for about $1300 which is dirt cheap really in my book.  In comparison to the Maldives boat trip we were looking at anyway.

Has anyone been to Tonga before?  Bearing in mind more than likely will take my girlfriend I want to be sure she won’t go batshit crazy with boredom.

Had mates who have done Tonga and Samoa,

Hell cruisey vibe, ot some solid surf with an abundance of differing breaks.

No first hand experience though.

I’ve looked into going to Tonga before because they have some good fun rights there. Haven’t been there yet though. Been to Samoa and surfed some super fun lefts.
From what I’ve heard, Tonga can get just as good as anywhere else, but is maybe slightly more fickle than some of the other pacific islands. Not sure why though, might just be bollocks from people who want to keep the crowds away!

Well I will be able to let everyone know exactly what it’s like after Easter as I just booked 7 nights there for me and my girlfriend!
