Work rules we have them

Avatar

So I work in a office and they are nailing down on every one with just about every thing. They sent out some coms on work rules which I would like to share with you. Some of them are fair and just common sense and some are just plain stupid.

Ill put in some break downs to why we have some rules.

1.    Conversations – please keep the amount of conversation on the floor to an acceptable timeframe.  Please note that extensive conversations has been observed in our area, of which, the majority are non-work related.

2.    Content of conversations – please ensure that the content of any conversation within our office is of an acceptable nature, and does not offend anyone.

3.    Noise level – please keep this down to a minimum – consultants and customers find it difficult to hear on the phone when the noise levels are quite high.

4.    Laughter – although there is no rule in relation to us all enjoying ourselves(and we all enjoy a giggle), just keep in mind that nearly 50% of our team are dealing with Bereavement Support.

5.    Desks – please try to keep your desk tidy and clean at all times.

6.    Consuming food at your desk – please remember as per the site rules, no food other than from the vending machine or fruit is to be consumed at your desk. Incase you spill

7.    Consuming drinks at your desk – please remember that drinks consumed at your desk must have a lid or be in a spill proof, drinks from the vending machine are also acceptable. Also incase you spill

8.    Logging in and out of your phone – please ensure that you adhere to your roster and scheduled breaks as set out in your TTV.  If you require to have your breaks changed, please ensure that you see a team leader and follow up.

9.    Mobile Phone Usage – as per the Site Rules mobile phones are not permitted to be used whilst on the floor.  Mobile phones should be switched off and placed away whilst at your desk.

10.  Movement in the office - There has also been an increase in the amount of consultants out of their seats, away from their desks and walking around.  Please keep unnecessary movement in the office to a minimum. This includes help from other consultants on technical tasks.

11.  Floorwalkers - Anyone who requires assistance from a floor walker should be utilising the information and systems at their disposal first (i.e. Knowhow etc).  If they are still unable to resolve the issue, the consultant should advise a team leader that they require the assistance of a floor walker, so that the team leader can engage the appropriate assistance.

12.  Milk - Please remember that the milk in the fridge is for tea / coffee only. Some one used the milk in the cerial for breakfast, no tea or coffee is supplied in my office

13.  Break times - Staff should not be logging in from break / lunch and then going to the kitchen to make a cup of tea / coffee (or finishing off their lunch) or going to the bathroom, minutes prior to break or back from break.  This also will not be tolerated.  You are allocated 2 x 15 minute breaks and a 30 minute break.  If you require a drink outside your break times,  this should only take 2 minutes before returning to your desk.

14.  Attire – please ensure that you are adhering to the dress code.  If you require any clarification, please see a team leader.

15.  Phone Queue – if your task involves an inbound phone queue, it is vital that coverage is maximised throughout the day.  Please ensure that you are logged into your phone and ready to take calls whilst at your desk. Please remember – these queues are our customers - both internal and external.

I have had to adjust some information which is only unique to the business.

That is hilarious!

I love the food rules!

Clearly they make a profit from those vending machines!! Coke from a coke can out of vending machine spills just the same as a coke can from the shop down the road!

We have a no socializing rule. Even when not working we aren’t wanted to be socializing with anyone at the premises.
This rule is broken by me everynight.

So is the no drinking the establishment’s soft drinks - what would I mix the rum with?

If I posted Bluescope Steel’s policies it would take up 30 posts!!!!!

And they wonder why Aussie Businesses can’t compete!!!!!

If they got rid of the petty bureaucratic bullshite, they would stand a chance!!!!!

My workplace rules are awesome!

Well, in one of my workplaces, anyway (I work from home a lot). The hours may be really long, but I can eat what I like, drink what I like, chat when I like, surf the net when I like, and the dress code is pretty cruisy. The regular ‘pants off’ days are nice when the weather’s hot. Sometimes they can be problematic though. I took the ‘pants off’ option last time I had to walk down the road to vote - and I got in a bit of trouble.

Well, it wasn’t so much the ‘pants off’ bit that got me into trouble - it was that I misheard when they said “election”.
