Have googled, forum searched, asked mates… still haven’t got a solid answer to this one.
What’s the snow like in Japan in March? We’re looking at flying over 12-15 march for two weeks, cheap flights from Perth so seems like it could be a good way to get out of the desert.
Any suggestions would be great.
I haven’t been that late but i have done 2 trips over the last week of feb thru the first week of March.
The first trip I was in Hukuba for the last week of Feb, no rain but it was very warm. We hit double digits for the temp.
The nest week (march) I was in Niseko and we had a bit of fresh snow during the week with a huge dump on my departure day.
That was in 2010.
Last Feb I spent both weeks in Niseko and we had great snow the first week and then early in the second week we had a bit of rain but then a massive dump the night before my last ski day and so my trip ended on a high. With heaps of snow forecast for the days after (second week of March so heading into your dates above)
Hope that helps
so it might be a bit hit and miss then? wondering if its worth the $ or save it until the southern winter and head to NZ or south america
i would say save mate, like you said its a hit and miss.
Hit and miss for pow for sure (but that can happen mid season as well)
But we still had good snow - all 4 of those weeks were leaps and bounds ahead of an aussie season for sure.
