wind gusts up to 125/kph and rain heading down the east coast.. Expected to hit the central coast over night and sydney/illawarra by dawn tomorrow.. They predict it will strengthen on its way down and we will have abnormally high tides which will increase flooding, and rough damaging surf on the coast..

My Aunty was on the phone last night. My cousins and her all live in Maryborough.
This is the central business district an hour ago (7:30am tuesday).
Mary river to reach 11m, now at 10.7m
Burnet River is at 8.9m and rising. Meant to peak today.
Down this way; My dam filled over night. At dinnertime I estimated it had only reached 1/4 full. This morning it was a few inches from overflowing, there’s still water running in but at least the sky is clearing and the wind didn’t hit. The massive dead tree at the top of the dam is listing, if the wind had come I expected it to fall.
We had over 110mm at Camden in the last 24hrs.
Here’s the dam.
It was bone dry before this rain hit.
When I excavated it over the last month I increased it’s depth and width almost doubling the volume. I created an island in the middle that is 15’ to the deepest spot (between the rock platform and island). The island only has a few rocks showing on the surface and part of the suport structure, I had been adding material to - it wasn’t finished and I was madly doing what I could before the rain hit.

The view from my porch is taking time to get used to. Off the rock platform it drops directly to the deepest spot.

The listing, dead tree.
