Thanx skip now just gotta keep my fingers crossed hopefuly they hand one of these available cause that would be something if they don’t
Here is the list i can up came up with depending on whats available
1) PYL 159 (highy unlikely it will be available but its my first choice, cant pass this board up, was considering it in the 156 but seeing is how I already have the greats in that size im going to pass becasue the way I see it if the Greats cant hold up when hitting deep pow or some big mountain high speed lines im going to go bigger 158-159)
2) The 420 148 (im a sucker for new weird tech and seeing is how this is a pow dream board that i can still ride switch, ill take it)
3) The Jackpot 152 (sooner or later i planned on picking up a butter, jib, rail board so might as well get it free)
4) The Trouble 154 (seems similar to me to the Greats feature wise, would like a flex comparison to the greats but Yes dont have those specs so im gonna hope it right around there maybe a lil softer, no asym sidecuts but Trouble got tregna maction that is always good, also might be a lil wider jib maybe )
5) The Greats 152 (always a safe bet, ill have the 156 for all mountain and pow sessions and this 152 for the park)
The 156 PYL is 3mm narrower than your 156 Greats - so if your Greats fit’s “perfect”, that may be a concern.
The 420 is a whopping 286mm wide! You won’t be doing any switch riding, or much of anything else, unless you’re constantly riding deep pow.
The Jackpot 152 would fit your boot size.
The Trouble 154 and Greats 152 would not.
3mm that’s .12 inches you really thing that will cause issues with excessive boot verhang??
The greats 156 has 251mm works perfect very little overhang
The Evil Twin has 249mm slightly more over hang but not to the point it causes issues I got like about less then 1/2 of a inch overhang on each side
The Trouble 154 : 246mm
The Greats. 152 : 247mm
.06 and .12 less in width I don’t know
The question is what’s a reasonable amount of boot overhang and what’s excessive ?? Any thoughts ? I thinking anything near or over a inch might cause issues when really laying down a edge, right now during some high speed to quick braking I’m laying it down like almost completely meaning I’m laying on the snow almost and I don’t have issues so with 1/2 inch there’s definitely still enough to engage the edge. Without hitting your toe or heal or rubbing it either.
That would be a nice thing to test out for sure
I’m a size 11 boot, but with “Shrinkage Tech” - so it’s the footprint of a 10. My boots (Burton SLX) are also quite rounded under the toe and heel. The narrowest I can go without toe/heel drag is a 248mm waist.
If you wear a regular (not “Shrinkage Tech”) size 10 boot, you’re in the same situation as me. If your boots aren’t as rounded on the underside as mine, you’d have to go wider.
Extreme stances/angles would affect these figures.

That’s a damn good point i ride a -15/15 stance and I wear a size 10 in my DC Status and size 9 in my Vans Aura I plan on using the Vans for park use n e way so I don’t think ill have issues with the Greats or Trouble but I could be wrong.
By the way thanx Chucky I wouldn’t have ever put this into consideration until I would have got the board and had issues, really appreciate it man thnx
No probs, mate - happy to help.
Here’s I guess what would be my way to approach the situation: YEEEEEEEEEEWWWWWWWW!!! You’re scoring a free board!!! So take a chance on it, and fill up the holes in that quiver with a noticeably different board than what you already own. You’ve got the pow covered with the Hovercraft, and the piste with the Greats - so get your park on with the 152 Jackpot. Winner, winner - buffalo wings for your evening meal!!!
(Unless, of course, they still have a PYL 159 in stock. )
You said it Chucky Thanx again
Just got word that they have the PYL in a 159 available will be shipping out Thursday can’t wait to try it out, i will definitely post a detailed review I’m curious how it will compare to The Greats
Stoked for you bro!
A comparison review would be awesome too.
Nice!
THANK YOU YES.
Got the board in today so I haven’t had a chance to test it out yet but just comparing these 2 it’s crazy how different the Camrock vs directional Camrock
The Greats has Camber all the way past the inserts, PYL barely 1/3 of that camber just between the inserts. I can see why PYL is pow orientated the rocker starts just under the inserts so the contact points are far back compared to the Greats, I wonder how PYL will do at high speed, there is no doubt PYL will have better float just by looking at it but we shall see how it does carving, at high speed will find out this weekeend.
Here some pics to do a quick side by side
I think you got the PYL when they are still made in the old factory (because it says manufactured by Nidecker). If you look at pictures of mine (in my thread), the rocker profile is different than yours.
So what you thinking ? Of the differnet camber profiles, I think it will have the float more then yours but edge hold might be compromised no? Mine definitely have way more rocker then camber
Can’t beat free so you ain’t gonna hear a single complaint from me about it
Yeah, it’ll have more float for sure, not too sure about the edge hold. I think that’s the board I demoed last spring. True that, can’t beat free, it’s a sick board!
