Lance Armstrong admits to using drugs

deanobruce - 21 January 2013 11:26 AM

What gear were you on? out of curiosity

I’m not sure if that’s something we should be discussing on a public forum. I’m happy to run you through a few things in PM.

. . . the famous mum saying

If everyone jumped off the harbour bridge would you do it too?

In this context, a completely unrealistic, asinine analogy.

It’s only an “asinine analogy” because it doesn’t agree with your argument!!!!!

Maybe you can supply a better analogy for all of us that are so stupid beyond your wisdom?????

What about ‘if everyone pumped themselves full of a cocktail of drugs ‘, would you do it to?

or would you only think its ok to do it, if it resulted in you making a shit load of money and becoming famous as well?

Oh that makes it ok.

and then you can also start blaming everyone else except yourself when it becomes obvious that you can’t hide the truth?

Yeh that’s ok as well because everyone else was doing it.

I think you may be taking it out of context a little. I think it’s more got to do with performance enhancing drugs. If other people are on them, you can’t compete, if you are on them, then you level out the paying field and only then may the best man or woman win.

oh right. The bridge thing was too extreme but saying exactly what happened is taking it out of context?

I think you also missed the earlier conversations where people were saying he would have won without drugs anyway.

That’s far too logical for most of these people to comprehend.

Bear in mind that not once have any of these non-hypocrites broken any rule whatsoever.

A lot of history being rewritten in this thread. Not once has anyone admitted they were wrong and if fact Armstrong was doping.
Need to admit that first before debating the fine print.

I think you selectively ignored the point that yes, “he would have won without drugs anyway” - ONLY if his competition hadn’t been on the juice either.

Possibly missed that, but I’m generally talking about where you said something about pumping yourself full of drugs because everyone else does it. That’s totally beside the point. Taking performance enhancing drugs is solely to level out the playing field to give people a chance at winning. Nothing more nothing less. The problem arises when some people have more money than others, and have access to better/more developed drugs than others, whether detectable or not. This is when people get shitty and start the accusations to bring someone down.

Who claimed earlier that Armstrong definitely wasn’t doping?

Me????????????? Prove it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, and here’s a little tip: stating that he’s never officially failed a drug test, and stating that he’s never done drugs are entirely different things.

Chucky, a lot of people are more than happy to buy into what they hear and not bother to open their eyes and see the grim picture. People don’t want to think sport is like that. Everyone wants to believe that cyclists are gifted super athletes than can ride at 80km/h up an alpine region for 5 hours per day every day of the year. People want to believe that Tennis players can play 10 x 5 set matches in as many days without fatigue. Everyone wants to believe that Grid Iron players can squat more than powerlifters and sprint faster than sprinters over a 30m distance because they are just super athletes born like that. I mean how awesome if everyone did this naturally. Don’t even get me started on swimmers. The ONLY sport that ASADA basically turns a blind eye to. Weightlifters here can’t even joke about taking a piss, but swimmers get a 3 month warning prior to being tested. Yeah, but Australians are just NATURALLY AWESOME at swimming!

Too true. Delusional people, by their very nature, have no idea they’re delusional.
