Yep, Azz is right. there isn’t really a forum for classifieds as we don’t want this to turn into people getting cheap boards and trying to make a profit on them. (I’ve seen it happen on other forums.)

I honestly don’t see how people selling their second hand gear will ever hurt, but it isn’t my forum, so they aren’t my rules =\

We’ve decided not to have classifieds for a few reasons. Most importantly, right from the start we set out to help the industry and support retail stores. There’s so many other sites out there for buying second hand gear, we didn’t want to become a marketplace for grey market products. I’ve spoken to our sponsors and several retail stores, and the general consensus is they applaud our stance on grey market items and they would hate it if we allowed Boardworld to become a marketplace for such items. It’s a very sensitive issue in this industry. There are other reasons as well but that is the main one. We want all the business going through our industry to be legit (through authorised retailers etc.).
Yeah of course, I’m sure we all see the implications behind sponsorship deals for BW and not having a marketplace.
This is the only forum I know of that has this policy, no big deal. Horses for courses. Just a shame because a lot of us would have a good time buying and selling second hand gear and supporting fellow members and the community through doing this.
Oh well.
Trust me, I see both sides of the argument. We err on the side of caution on this one. And that’s it, not many forums really support the industry and we are proud to do things a bit differently. It’s probably why we have so many sponsors. Thanks for understanding.
