The 20th of January, 2013 marks the tenth anniversary of the day Craig Kelly, the “Godfather of Freeriding”, was tragically killed in an avalanche.
More than just a four time Snowboard World Champion, three time US Champion, three time Mt. Baker Banked Slalom winner, and snowboarding’s first ever international megastar - Craig Kelly was an icon, a legend among legends. Terje Haakonsen has referred to Craig Kelly as “the best snowboarder of all time”.
His riding was pure poetry, and he thoroughly deserves the honour of being forever revered as a true pioneer of the sport of snowboarding.
Can’t believe it’s ten years.
