I said just English which they were fine about.
Sooooooo my interview is in about 13 hrs and i have no skype contact to add. I think now is a good time to panic :(
Nah its the internet no big deal if they don’t send it till 5mins before!
LOL they literally sent it at 6am today and my interview is at 8. A few minutes until my call
EDIT:
Interview is now over and took about 20 minutes.
Some Questions Asked:
Time when you helped someone
Time when you put another needs ahead of yours
If I skied
A time when I disobeyed rules
A time when I lost control (out of anger)
History of the Olympics
What skills I can bring to the Olympics
If I drive and how many years have I driven
The interviewer asked for my passport and drivers license
I spoke to her mainly in English but I did manage to squeeze some Russian in too. The questions were scripted , i saw the paper. I felt like the interview wasn’t really an interview at all, more like the worlds shortest date where the guy only talks about himself. Plus I’am not even sure what answers of mine were good examples or not; its not like there was a right or wrong response since these are all life experiences.
They said someone would be calling to let me know if I advance, but then again I was the very first interview for that girl. Pretty sure she had no idea what I was saying 90% of the time because prior to the interview she said she’d be taking notes so I shouldn’t take offense if she isn’t looking at the screen. That didn’t really happen….. at all.
or she found you so beautiful, she couldn’t take her eye off you.
Haha Azz
But yeah I bet these people aren’t experienced recruiters!
Thanks for the run down. Mine is on Monday!
The chick I had was exactly the same mate. Had to ask questions, looked away from the camera and wrote notes.
Oh Azz, you’re going to make be blush
Oh Azz, you’re going to make be blush
He does that to the best of us.
Okay just had my interview. Man it was awkward.
She giggled quite a bit at my answers (i wasn’t trying to be funny!)
The only answer she didn’t laugh at and was impressed about was when i said I was an expert skier and that I was willing to take my equipment (man it will suck though! But if i get an awesome on snow job it will be worth it i suppose!)
They emailed me today to let me know I wouldn’t be required for the hockey test event in April, which is fine by me. They also said that they would let all applicants know in May if they have a spot or not.
So, it looks like a few more months of waiting folks.
May? We do need to book flights and transportation lol… And if I don’t get in, then I want to be taking some time off for this snow season in Aus instead!
Hi there:)
I also found this thread through Google and am really glad I did. I am a former ice skater…
So, I submitted my application in August, did the English test about a week later. And nothing since..I’m starting to freak out now, especially with all the articles and how far in the process they are. My English better have not been that bad.
Think I’m going to do the email thing too:/
Hi Icarus17. Get involved, there are a heap of people here and we are sharing our experience.
Send an email to Elena as suggested in this thread (PM me if you want her email as I’d prefer not to plaster it all around the net), it seems to get you in the loop a bit better and see how it goes. Remember to be open and willing to do any job. You say you are a former ice skater so if you pigeon holed yourself into a single job, you might have issues if they are filled with locals.
Feel free to ask us anything about our journey to Sochi and if we know the answer we will try to help. At least a few of us are really active on the boards and check things out daily.
Thanks!
I tried not to do that, but I know that I don’t have that much experience and am on the low end of the age requirement. Am trying to boost my chances with my trilingual-ish skills:D
Best of luck to all of us; 12 months to go.
