I have made no monumentally ridiculous statements . . .

It’s monumentally ridiculous, and highly insulting, to state, suggest, indicate or infer that people buy/use Apple products simply because Apple markets their products well - effectively portraying Apple owners/users as gullible, brainless fools.

I think that was TJ mate in this instance but I do think that there is a fair percentage of people out in the Apple world who buy it to keep up appearances, most notably with the Iphone and maybe the macbook to a lesser extent.

It was both of you, you’re still doing it. But anyway . . .

I’d say there are just as many people out in the “Apple sucks” world who’d buy the latest Samsung Galaxy S3 just “to keep up appearances”. But it’s largely irrelevant anyway. Anyone buying a product simply “to keep up appearances” still has to actually use the thing - and it soon becomes apparent whether or not it’s actually any good. If the product turns out to be a piece of crap, the opposite effect happens, and it’s highly detrimental to the brand.

That very rarely happens with Apple, and it’s got nothing whatsoever to do with Apple’s marketing. The truth of the matter is that Apple advertises its products less than that of their competitors. Why pay for advertising, when the ‘word of mouth’ viral effect from millions of highly appreciative customers has so much more impact?

The Apple products which sell the best are the ones that users are so overwhelmingly impressed with, they can’t wait to spread the word. THAT is Apple’s major strength, and no matter how much Apple’s competitors spend on marketing their products, they just can’t buy that kind of publicity.

Yep… but if you get 4 people that’s only $11 each.. so not so bad.. works out just over $20 each for me and Mr.h0z.. so better than paying the $45 each..

This is probably not the best venue to openly discuss buying online from overseas websites.

I tried to find it in aus… cos I’m impatient and wanted to show Mr.h0z it in person as a surprise…. buuuut good luck finding it here.. I looked on the bcf site the mountain design site, kathmandu, even checked stm and rhythm, ( leatherman have an Aussie site with Aussie retailers… but only have the multi tools .. eg just the style and stuff like Swiss army knives.. ) so this was the only option I had… a few of you wanted them too.. so I offered to help.. if you want to buy it from here then.. it looks like you won’t get one..

I would prefer to not pay for shipping and get it from here.. ( or even pay a bit more and buy it in a shop.. but this just wasn’t possible in this case..)

I didn’t put a link.. I said if any one wanted the link I could give it to them…

Next time I won’t bother helping..

( that and the fact its made by leatherman and designed by signal… both being American companies…)

Don’t sweat it hOz - it’s just that it’s Boardworld policy.

Hence why no link to the overseas site I had to get it from…

I think in these cases where you can’t buy stuff in Australia, BW is more lenient.

But if you’re looking for common stuff, think local as it does help the industry.

That’s policy on other forums; if not available here the link to O.S. is ok.

So if I can’t find a board in Aus I can link to it in the US?

A combo board tool is pretty common stuff so its a similar situation.

I don’t agree with it but it is the policy.

Went riding the other day, thought I wanted this.

...then realized I could keep the bike I have and go on a snowboard holiday for the $$ instead LOL

Yes you can find multi tools here.. I have one.. I brought it from a shop in jindy, but its too bulky for my tiny hydration backpack and for in my pockets.. (I’d hate to fall on it..) this sits flat and can clip onto the handle of the back pack.. And I haven’t seen anything designed like this..  Hence why I spent over an hour looking through websites.. Which resulted in buying it online, from o.s.
anyways I’m sick of repeating myself… If you don’t like the fact I couldn’t find it here so had to buy it from o.s… Then delete the post. Problem fixed..
