Woo boo tj!

I haven’t heard anything yet.

Send Elena another email.

I sent on the 14th Dec and got this back:

Dear TJ, thanks for your letter. We’re sorry for not contacting you for a long time.
Please let me know when you would like to have your interview. Any date and time after January 10 is ok.
We work Monday-Friday 9.30 – 7 p.m. and weekends 11 – 6 p.m. Moscow time.
You can let me know via this email.

Then I had to send another email to ask her to confirm and she did yesterday.

I don’t think I have her last email as the Bb OK only keeps them up to 2 weeks

Maybe wait till you get back? It’s only a week or so left over there in that horrible white wasteland right? (Totally trying to make myself feel better for being here in this sweltering heat :()

Unless you want me to forward you her email address?

Yeah less than a week to in this “hell hole” wink

Ok, I got through the interview. Apparently the manager is going to give me a quick few questions sometime soon.

They asked me to show them my passport, type my passport number to them, date of birth and drivers license. Have these ready.

The interview took about 30 mins.

They asked stuff like:
- Why do you want to volunteer at the games
- A bit about the history of the Olympics (say stuff like 1896, based off ancient greece times and alternates between summer and winter olympics every 2 years
- Where was the previous Winter Olympics (Vancouver)
- A time in your life where you helped someone (selflessness)
- A time where you performed monotonous tasks
- A time where you multi-tasked
- A time where you sacraficed your goals for others
- A time where you listened to instructions even though they weren’t what you thought were best

And a few more I forgot about.

She also said to ask her some questions which I asked:
What the roster would be like? (do I get any time to myself) - Didn’t know
Where would the events team be located? - Didn’t know
Do I need to do the Russian test that was emailed to me? - No

Hey Guys,

I’ve been following this forum topic for about two months now and i just got a response from the volunteer center about the interview date. I set it up for This Saturday and i gotta say it was thanks to “robs tactic”. I emailed them twice (1 day apart) back around December 20th and they responded yesterday to the first email.

So thanks for keeping my hopes high even though i read how many of you already went through the interview process. I thought i’d never get to schedule an interview and nearly gave up hope. So cheers to you guys.

Question:
How do I get their skype name for Saturdays meeting? Will they be sending an email? Its only 3 days away so i’m a little concerned.

Thanks

PS: keep up the informative posts, it helps people like me.

My biggest suggestion is to be patient! (Believe me it sucks waiting!) They will send you an email with the Skype name to “friend”. I would also make sure you read the questions asked above before hand. Those were the same questions they asked me. Act enthusiastic, show a willingness to be placed anywhere (even if there is a specific area you want to work) don’t worry, when the time comes to make a decision you will have that opportunity.

The last thing you want to do is say “I only want to work at…” If that area is already full then it will be a very short conversation. Many positions have already been filled with Russian Nationals (makes sense huh?) but there are numerous opportunities still available.

Please post after you have your interview, its interesting to hear about everyone’s experiences! Good Luck!

“elena” is on leave until the 17th now :-(

So i have to wait!

I had sent them my skype name and they added me as a friend.

I had the interview with a contact named: volunteersochi2014-2

Be patient as my interview was setup for 11am their time and I didn’t get called till 12pm (1 hour later). Make sure you set aside at least 30 mins after you start talking and use the bathroom when they add you as a contact so you don’t need to go during…

Seems like they ask the same questions (they have a script) but the interviewers don’t really know too much so when they ask you to ask them questions, don’t expect any answers lol.

PS. Welcome to the forums MetheusX. Let us know how you progress and if we all make it to Russia, there is going to be a BW meetup for a Beer… or Vodka? lol

My offer still stands for everyone on the forum. I’ll buy the first round in Sochi! (Provided you know the secret handshake and code word, which is “robs tactic”! Haha!

Haha!

I hope we are all together! But somehow I doubt it!

I have finally got an interview confirmed for 7pm on Monday. I got the email from the website.

I actually swapped my preference to sport since you were saying that they need people in Alpine. So we’ll see.

Hey TJ did the ask about speaking russian?
