Also people are realising they don’t need or wont use half of Black functions so are buying Silver instead.
Most places you can haggle down to $469 for Black.
What End_User paid is actually $0.99 over RRP. Did you get a memory card in the price or even try to get the cost down? Sounds like you made an impulse purchase.
a couple of quick and pretty bad vids, but at least you get some idea of the under water quality. These were shot at 1080 and 2.7K and converted to 720p by iMovie. Yes, I know I’m a terrible snorkeller - I don’t even have flippers!

Yep, impulse buy for sure. Wasn’t going to try and talk the price down at City Beach. LOL. The 16 year old working behind the counter would be thinking, WTF. I’m just happy I have it in time for Whistler in 2 weeks. Also, claiming the GST back takes away some of the pain.

The more I use Hero3 the less impressed I become.
Sure it produces a great picture but operating the thing is most frustrating.
I do like how the buttons are positioned for your left hand thumb and forefinger, and have to admit - I like the industrial looks of the buttons with the springs, yellow seals and metal. The 8 screws of the lens cover add to this aspect.
The base plate of the display case is very handy - the best mount it is supplied with and probably the best GoPro mount, period.
I’ve added some small earth magnets to it and with a few additional holes will be useful for bolts and/or cabletie points. There’s enough surface area that good quality double sided tape will make it better than the SurfMount.
But the camera is <strike>almost</strike> impossible to mount square since the lens is off center and there’s just not enough mounting flexibility. It’s the same for any GoPro.
Next shipment has been put back until 19th Jan. We are told we should receive 12 (but that doesn’t mean we will - even though we ordered 24).
Half already have a holding deposit (min $100).
So only have 6 remaining. All Black edition.
Boardworld members get them below rrp and an option to get a micro SD at near wholesale price (16GB or 32GB), the brand I personally recommend.

For the guys using the HERO3, how are you guys finding the battery life? Is it as bad as everyone says? What do you guys think of aftermarket batteries? The OEM GoPro ones go for $40, the China knock offs are about $10 each including shipping from eBay. Worth the punt?
i wouldn’t go for knock off ones. it would last 5 seconds lol the real deal go-pro ones dont even last long enough haha
I don’t know how GoPro expect gnarly footage to be captured by people with less than a hour run time.
easy, just do more gnarly stuff more often haha instead of putting it on your head and doing green runs
