OK, the hottest topic to argue, debate, rant about etc etc on Boardworld.
This is the place to do it. Remember the forum rules,
When we (the mods) come across PC / Android v Apple stuff elsewhere, we will move it here.
So go for it, enjoy yourselves.
To get the ball rolling,
Apple SUCKS.
Acutally I don’t know how well this thread will go, I think half the fun is in sneaky stabs at chosen platforms in mainstream threads…..............
not even going to bother with this…
Azz, I know you linked the site rules above but think it needs to be mentioned, if it gets personal, the thread will be closed
just freaking close it now, we all know it will get there sooner than later.. lol
go pro!!!! lol

I’m interested to know why Chucky finds it so hard to believe that a mate has dropped $20K on Mac stuff, he’s had two MacPro’s in that time with options box ticked which were about $10K purchase price alone for those and a MacBook pro of some description which was close to $4k and other Mac USB drives to back media up then a few repair bills one of which was $2K. $20K looms pretty quickly with that sort of spending.
Another mate of mine who is a very successful, award winning surf photogrpaher was so frustrated with his Mac he wrote the word “SHIT” in permanent marker across the screen. Despite this he still buys Apple everything, don’t ask me why, seems like the height of stupidity.

I’m well aware of how much Mac Pro systems cost. I’m also well aware that the people who pay that kind of money, do so because they’re worth it.

Imagine how frustrated he’d have been with a lesser computer!!!!!!!!
We have all Apple products here, not saying we don’t have problems with them, but as a general rule they run great.
The problems we have are small stupid things. Tambo’s iMac for whatever reason will not play audio loud from the internal speakers.
We have 3 x iMacs, 2 x MacBook Pro, 2 x MacBook, 2 x iPad, 2 x iphone, So many iPods I won’t even bother to count, 2 x Apple TV, 3 x airports, Time Machine and an Airport express.
So there is plenty to bugger up. It does its thing day in day out without trouble. If there is a bugger up, most of the time its just a matter of shutting down the system and rebooting. Its all been running since 2008.
So far (touch wood) anything that has shit itself has been covered under warranty
I have had Dell, Sony & Toshiba lap tops and nothing but grief with them.
For us, the ease of the OS and the way it syncs with all devices flawlessly is the main selling point.
unless you play games, i dont see the advantages of using anything other then a mac??
I too used to look bewildered at my brother (He has never owned a PC in his life, and he’s 4 years older than me) (My other brother, now deceased, was a computer engineering science lecturer at the UOW), and wondered why he would buy an Apple when they were so much dearer, and so much “Not The Norm”!!!!!
That was, until I used to quiz him about several issues that had me stumped with my Windows OS PC, and he would continually reply with, “I have no idea what you’re talking about, I don’t have problems with my computer”!!!!! (I have used PC from when I was 13 MS DOS Based OS)
His comments were that frequent, that I knew there had to be some truth to them, as he had no reason to lie to me!!!!! So, when I needed an “Upgrade”, Apple was the PC of my eye!!!!!
Since I’ve had my iMac all has been sweet!!!!! (2008????? Old as shit now in the World of Tech!!!!!)
Never had any problems, and I even actually once had to read the manual to find out what shortcut keys shutdown a frozen application!!!!! (MS Office For Mac)
The only thing that I have ever downloaded was YouTube Downloader, but never had to do patches etc for medial tasks, like I did with PC!!!!!
My workplace uses Windows OS PC’s, and at this point in time, I will not be buyin a Windows OS PC again!!!!!
I admittedly had to pay ~ 1/3 more than what an equivalent quality branded PC at the time, but I have been extremely happy with my decision!!!!!
While I haven’t looked at what PC’s are doing price wise, I have noticed that Mac’s are very well priced at the moment!!!!!
My next Box will be another Mac for sure!!!!!
Apple doesn’t manufacture every single component in their computers. They outsource, same as everyone else. That means the likelihood of certain parts requiring costly repair is just as high as with other computers. However the reason it happens far less with Apple computers is that Apple designs its proprietary parts/systems to interact with the outsourced parts far more efficiently, ensuring smoother, (mostly) hassle free operation.
For every negative story about Apple equipment, there are thousands of glowing reports.
If I had a business requiring me to drop 20K on Apple computers, I’d be selling off my equipment every few years and replacing it - as software/hardware technology improves, so does the demand placed on it. I’d sure as hell do the smart thing and drop an extra few hundred on Applecare, ensuring that all repairs were covered by warranty for the entire time I used the equipment.
