Twice as good?  I can’t stop laughing right now.

If it costs twice as much, it’s because it’s worth twice as much - at least. Simple as that.

I built a media PC for myself for about $7-800 over 4 years ago, all I have done since is add HDD.  It runs 24/7 and runs our 50"plasma for all TV, movie, dvd, bluray, downloads, youtube, music, interwebs browsing etc and hasn’t had any problems other than a motherboard swap about two years ago for $180.

Does it natively boot into, and seamlessly run the current Mac OS? If it doesn’t, in my opinion it’s worth far less than half what you paid for it.

nthnbeachesguy - 15 January 2013 03:50 AM

My mates and their Mac desktops however that they rely on to make a living have shit and raped themselves several times over in the same time period, one mate estimates that including purchase price on his Macs he has dropped over $20K in a similar period, one repair bill almost topped $2000.

People running Microsoft operating systems could spend that much just on software tech support alone.

nthnbeachesguy - 15 January 2013 03:50 AM

If your happy with Macs so be it but don’t rip on people whose PC’s do exactly what they need of them for a fraction of the price.

If you’re happy to put up with the Microsoft OS, so be it - but don’t rip on people who are willing to pay a premium for a superior product which provides a far better computing experience.

. . . unless you’re into the added plastic bits and showier looks in the real world there’s bugger all in it other than a massive price hike.

That’s the way it appears to a lot of people who simply don’t know any better.
