New Aussie Binding Company - Launched Today!

Hi Azz. We’ve done a fair bit of testing with a small group of riders. We’ll be looking to get some production samples ready for this winter and get them under as many riders as possible. The testing so far has been on prototypes, which are not production material or as strong, and so far they have gone well. We’ll be looking for Boardworld members who would like to give them a caning.

Mizu. This particular prototype does not have highback rotation. We’ve given this some thought, and it is something that will be included in the future, but the first model probably won’t have it. We may look into compensating with asymetric highbacks instead. TBC

TJswish. Snow getting jammed has been a big focus in the design so far. We think we’ve addressed it pretty well. Some more testing will be needed to fine tune it. We’ve made it easy to clear out if it does happen.

Cheers guys

Sweet!!!!!

Yeah I reckon that in order to compete with what is already on the market, it should at least have the same adjustability that is available from the competitors!!!!!

Assym Highbacks would be great, as it would also give ya an option to change/alter the flex/feel of the binding without havin to spend more cash!!!!! A great feature that all bindings should have!!!!!

All the best, and I hope it goes Gangbusters for ya!!!!! shaka

I will invest in a pair and test them out.
I’m in and out of my bindings so often due to filming duties these would be ideal. Add my agressive riding style and that I’m prone to push everything to it’s breaking point, they will be put under extrem testing in my hands.

I’ll promote them in my public role (may be working for Perisher media this year) and that’s a win for STREWTH and because I put money down it will encourage honest feedback/testing - a win for consumers.

Until people are using the production models there’s little progression to be had from what’s been done already by the company, so I welcome the discounted price tag and appreciate the value of asking for some $$ to do it.

Asking to get the binding for nothing is a bit pretentious, though expected when an opportunity like this is put to the public.
$185 for a binding!! Wow.

What will they retail be, once full production begins?

not sure pretentious is the right word spaz and i agree $185 is cheap for bindings BUT I still think its a large outlay for yet un-proven tech. I dont know about anyone else, but if i shelled out nearly 200 clams for something that doesnt work at this point in my financial status, id be pissed!! Thats why i think giving some out to ‘real’ riders like us on a forum such as this could be beneficial. For some reason i trust what the ‘real’ people say on here much more than some pro on the companies books. On the other hand I also understand how from the companies point of view that its not a financially/physically viable option when starting up, its one of those ye olde catch 22 deals. One possible way could be ‘lending’ them out for riders to try maybe, and returning them to the strewth guys or passing them on to others. It sounds like im all debbie downer on these guys but thats really not the case, i want them to suceed, i just want to make sure that they cover all bases so they can, and i guess thats the good thing about these crowd funded type of projects, it takes away alot of the personal risks.

It does sound like they are more than willing to send out demo models for us to pass around though. If that’s the case, I’d be keen to smash them around for a few runs and see how they perform. If they are as good as they sound, I’d be sold. I’ll probably be down at Perisher a good amount this season so if there is any chance to get my hands on a prototype for a few runs, I’d jump at the chance smile

Major concerns apart from snow getting clogged is the comfort in them. My Unions (and I’m sure Flux / Burton / K2 / Other) are super comfortable and the pressure is where you want / need it.

I would be interested to try them.. You should do a few demo days at some of the resorts..  I have been riding step ins all last season.. And these work so differently to mine which makes me skeptical.. But I would be willing to give them a go and see how they compare to my current ones..

if you decide on a demo day at perisher, let me know! smile

I can see your point but if you receive a product for free you’ll be more incline to give a good wrap or be forgiving if they aren’t up to scratch. After all it didn’t cost you anything.
That would be a good move on Strewth’s part and eliminate most bad reviews.

I wouldn’t go as far to say online forum posting snowboarders are “real riders” - I could be a 13yo wannabe who can talk-the-talk but couldn’t tell the difference between hardpack and blueice.

I see this more as a company who is so confident in their product they are ready to put it on the chopping block by asking us to pay, thus risking a poor review if the product doesn’t perform as claimed.
I’ve received many a free product for testing and honestly, most of the time - if the rep doesn’t keep asking for feedback -  and I don’t like it after 1 go, it doesn’t get used again. If I pay for it; I’ll give it more of a chance to prove itself so I get my money’s worth.

The only products I now accept for free are things I can promote in a branding sense. I have been surprised how many good products I get to use and how many of them are outsold by lessor quality rivals or end up not being produced/marketed.

Everything is about marketing these days.

That’s why GoPro is the current market leader…

Doesn’t matter how good your marketing is!!!!!

If a product is shit, it will die a quick death!!!!!

Yeah but an amazing product with no marketing will be the same. GoPro is an above average product with amazing marketing. Contour and Drift are currently above average products with average marketing.

Therefore we know who the market leader is.

Yeah… As if apple could sell their computers for twice the price of an equivalent PC if they didn’t have such an awesome marketing team.

As if people would purchase one car over another because of reviews and advertisements.

If there was no marketing, you’d have egg on your face like Byron because you bought a Great Wall ute… lol
