Propose deano! Bring her in on a spouse visa.

The curly question is which country to live in, my sister has been engaged to an american guy for the best part of 3 years.  They bounce around between the two countries on holiday visas as they’re now both over 30, it’s becoming a major headrape for both of them and their ability to accomplish life goals is majorly inconvenienced due to only one of them being able to work if they are together because of visa dramas.  My advice is to wait 6 months, establish a record of relationship and then elope.  Damn, my girl and I are both Australian but I’m seriously considering eloping anyway for mostly financial reasons, that and my girls parents can’t ever be in the same place at the same time.

We have talked about it, been together about 10 months and we’re both over 30 so not like we’re 20 yr olds rushing into something they know nothing about ha ha.  But simple answer, no not yet I haven’t even looked at rings.  You wouldn’t be the first person asking about a bucks, all my other mates bar one are married and hassling me so they can have another bucks weekend ha ha!

Umm she may be coming in March, maybe abit later on. We have to sort her visa out somehow (due to her already had a working visa, th only way to get another one is to prove she worked a few months fruit picking on her last trip. Which she didnt, so i am in the process of trying to find a farm which is willing to say she worked there for a few weeks so she can get another visa)!

Welcome to the difficult world of international relationships! I hope it does work for you, but definitely figure out some kind of plan B for if you can’t find a farm to do that. Pretty sure it has to be 3 months of work, minimum that they say she has done…and then they have to be willing to say that they want to employ her again when she comes back (the 2nd one is like a sponsored work visa). Not sure I like your chances, I’m afraid.
Good luck with it though, for sure.

I’d say screw it, save your moolah, getting a working holiday visa & a flight to france & get yourself over there, ASAP! Then while you’re there, set it up so you’re collecting evidence that you live together and of your relationship for that 12 months & apply for her spouse visa for Australia, if you think you really don’t want to be in France long term.
It may all seem pretty premature to collect evidence and stuff, but you’ll be grateful that you did if you are still keen after that 12 months, because otherwise you’re screwed & limited to visitor visas in either country - unless you move to some other country together!

Let me know if you’ve got any questions about it. Happy to help any way I can.

Second that about the correspondence, create a special folder in your email, save the labels on the packages she sends you, if there is a chance you never know how usefull that crap can be.  When I moved to Oz I had almost 10 months of stuff, when we applied for a residency visa they didn’t even bother looking at 3/4 of it (course I printed and bundled and got all kinds of stuff signed by a JP- to a rediculous extent, but she was worth it!!).

Another way, tho it can be rough, I came over on a tourist visa, which meant couldn’t work (legally) and for 1 year had to leave the counrty overnight every three months (New Zealand is beautiful btw wink )  Third time I left was for our honeymoon, then we applied for a partner visa.  Good luck however it decides to roll mate!!
