My new favourite thing that I don’t know how to live without…. Padded AND heated chairlifts! With hoods! No complaining about bad weather days here!

Ahh… the hoods= cone of silence… NOT!!!! you get to hear a lot of other conversations in those things. (mostly in languages I can’t understand, but when the occasional English pops out it is usually priceless.

Back to the Xmas Eve dinner/Xmas lunch, yours looked very much like ours when we were in Switz. Looking back at the photos we had beens, sausage and bacon with some kind of potato/cabbage mix for Xmas lunch. And I made mango salad which is our family tradition, which went oh so well with the rest of the meal! The ruchlette was Xmas eve. The other thing was the real candles on the xmas trees, none of this fairy lights stuff, real burning with fire candles!
Merry Xmas Oz, and happy NY!!!!!!

Haha I ventures over to another mtn yesterday (via lifts) and man the trail maps are weird here but I digress, anyway I muttered under my breathe on a full chair “I have no idea where I am!

Next thing I hear, oh you are English do you need some help?

So I have now left europe and have arrived in San Fran, off to Tahoe tomorrow!

I left Schladming on Saturday and met up with my friends old housemate who is an english teacher in Germany. To say I was excited to have some people to speak english with is an understatement! Those who know me know I can talk underwater, well multiple that by that fact I hadn’t spoken much in the last 8 days and well I am sure my friend was v happy when I went to bed on Saturday night! LOL

Actually even though I knew my friends english would be good I was pleasantly surprised by how fluent her, her boyfriend and all of their friends were. I truly thought Austria would have been the country where more people spoke english since their language is this weird combo of German/English but so many people couldn’t speak english, and those who could it was still hard to think of the “simple” words for things.

Anyway but to Stuttgart! Even though I was warned it was a boring city with not much historic value since a lot of it was bombed during WW2 I was really excited to be back in a city! And the view from my friends apartment was stunning! Particularly at 745am in the morning which is what time I woke up each and every morning I was there, no matter how many minutes I battled with my bladder it always won at 745am!!! (Sorry TMI?) Anyway the sunrise was amzing all of the days. But I never took a photo, sorry!

On the first day we just headed into town and the still had their winter markets on so we had a giant pretzel and some gluewhin, then wandered around the shops.

Sunday we went for a drive out to Ritter Sport Chocolate Factory/museum. Which was pretty cool and then we went to the Porsche and Mercedes factory (actually more like compounds! Even the Porsche factory was huge, interesting since their production was so much smaller than the Mercedes.

Actually my friends boyfriend works at Porsche and so do the majority of their circle of friends. I was chatting to one the girls who was saying how even though a lot of locals work their she still comes across guys who chat her up based on her employer (maybe they want the 20% staff discount!) That night we headed to a party for one of their friends and those who are facebook friends with me know that the made me ride a bicycle to said party! It was hilarious! For some reason I struggled to get out their street, so even though my protests early had been laughed off I think they were seriously doubting my cycling abilities at this point but we made it there in one piece and home again at 2am (whilst under the influence!!)

The next day we had an early start as I wanted to do a little shopping and we also headed to the local thermal/mineral pools, which were right in the middle of town. The complex was huge and modern which I wasn’t expecting and you could swim outside! Trust me the water was not that warm for the 3 deg weather! What cracked me up were the sun lounges they had everywhere indoors!

After swimming for an hour my friend suggested the sauna, to say I was not prepared when we walked thru the door for the 70yo old naked man standing facing the door is also an understatement!!! I got over my shock and we headed into on of the 13 saunas. I can’t last long in those things though and so we were out in 15min although if Spaz’s instagram is to be believed Campbletown was 50deg (vs the sauna’s 46) there was a snow machine outside near the entrance to the finish experience which little kids were putting over their bodies!! I also had to laugh at the guy who was lying naked outside (yes 3deg!) On a sunlounger!! Brrrrrr (although I can’t confirm how cold his actually bodies was wink )
After the suana we headed back to my friends and had a nice little nap before we headed off for the NYE celebrations, thankfully this party was too far for a bike ride!

We had a great night! A few people had booked a turkish restaurant in an outer suburb we paid 20 euro for a buffet which they kept stocked all night which was great at 1am! And a couple of dj’s were their with real vinyl decks which was pretty cool but even cooler was the jam session with a sax player and the dj. It was really cool. Their was also a jazz band but they only played about 5 songs which was good because they didn’t really fit the vibe of the night (even though the sax jam session did…)

At midnight everyone headed outside and those who bought fireworks let them off in the street which was crazy we were out there for over half an hour and it was freezing be really cool. And it shouldn’t have been but it was really hilarious watching the odd car who tried to run the gauntlet of driving down a live firecracker street!

We got home about 4am and sleep most of the day before I headed to the train station so I could get to Frankfurt ahead of my flight today.

Photos soon!

Everything that could go wrong today has gone wrong. Missed the bag check time (40mins prior to departure even my us friend said she never heard of that) so got bumped to the 10am flight ( which was the flight I was originally on before I booked the early one)

Buses etc became a nightmare so I have booked as rental car now and should be in Whistler by 4pm, although now my flight is boarding late. And they have hinted at a mechanical issue. :sigh:
