Be safe people and leave lighters at home, even the smallest spark could destroy the state. If you smoke - do it indoors and don’t throw buts or even ash out your car window.
All fire fighters will be busy making sure fires don’t start or they will be attending the fires already burning. There are many already ablaze.
If you haven’t already watered the garden get out and do it now while the water has a chance to get in.
If you live near bush - good luck, be ready.
Yeah saw that crazy stuff. Don’t think I have ever heard if that!
The whole other side of mr.h0zs street is bush.. (only houses on one side..) his mum wad watering plants and the lawn etc last night.. And they have been doing burn off over night near us.. So hopefully we are fine (haven’t had fire threaten houses in our area ( northern beaches) that I know off since 1994.. When it rained ash in out backyard for 2 days..
good luck to every one who is close to the fires!!
If a fire comes through with a 70kph wind, on a 40+ day, I’d be ditchin the hose, and gettin the fark outta there!!!!!
I’ve already got stuff packed in my car, and ready to go!!!!!
Looks like there’s a fire out of control just near Cooma!!!!!
Be safe Boardworldians, and live to shred another day!!!!!
Fair enough. Can’t take risks on a day like today. Thought are with anyone near the bush.
Im glad we left that area on saturday. We have been in Buckenderra on Lake Eucembene the past week.
I hope its better south, Canberra Airport is currently almost 34.5 degrees with 42k wind and 62k gusts
40.9 with 28 and 46 Gusts here atm!!!!!
And the wind is pickin up, and there’s a fire up on the highlands now!!!!! Looks like it started in a residential area, so some dickwit has obviously got a turnip for a brain up there!!!!!
Not so bad here (compared to other days in the last weeks, I’ve had 67?C in the sun).
Haven’t cracked 60?C yet. Maybe because of the cloud cover. Not much wind either. (Camden/Campbelltown area)
My readings are;
41?C from the car air temp dash readout (usually it’s +40 on the driveway anyway)
55?C - driveway surface.
38?C - grass
49?C - backdoor lounge (outside my shack).
46?C - dirt (the sludge I excavated) - wich is still holding moisture!!! This is usually the hottest place in the yard and where I’m creating my vege patch.
Indoor temp of my shack (portable a/c) is a cool 29?C - but the 2 plasma screens, computer and multiple hard-drives are doing their most to make it hotter (40?C with a house fan on them - MacPro at 35.5?C)
And inside the house is a chilly 24?C (ducted a/c). Might go watch some Fox and wrap myself in a blanket it’s so cold in there.
It’s crazy hot / humid in the city today… and I’m playing oztag tonight! :(
Not sorry at all to be missing all that heat.
loving it!
Dry heat is nothing, its humid heat that is killer!
Spent a solid 4 hours this arvo/tonight at the beach.
Not too keen on the “Catastrophic Fire Danger” bit!!!!!
Well yeh thats never good…
Im talking comfort levels RE: heat
Yeah, the heat wasn’t too bad today!!!!!
Dry winds took care of any moisture!!!!!
I could never live in Queensland due to the humidity!!!!! Sucks balls!!!!!
exactly, i would sweat inside, or when the wind stopped. as soon as it picks up BAM sweat goes away.
