Yeah, happy to start a thread for GP3 users, Miz. Just got my memory card so I’ll be able to do some video tests, too.
i wont be buying anything until the new year but i think im sold with the screen haha and spare batts, in all i agree with mudhoney its an awesome new toy and gets some unreal slowmo footage at 720 @120!!

So I was one of those people desperate enough for a Black that I ordered it from Kogan last week.
I received an email today stating:
Due to global shortage in supply of the GoPro HD HERO3 Black Edition that you have purchased, we unable to fulfill your order for this product. Your refund will be issued within 24 - 48 hours.
This is after calling and confirming they had them in stock etc.
Don’t think I will be buying from them again.

Had 2x Surf edition Blacks and a standard Black available this week (3 in total) that sold before I knew they had arrived. There was also a Silver.
No-one here committed to purchase them on pre-order so none were allocated!
(Surf edition is same price but has extra mounts)

All the accessories sold but one helmet mount.

Thanks Snowbum. Because it’s unlikely I will get it before Xmas, I think I will hold out till I’m in the USA and Whistler at the end of next month :D
my gf just bought me the lcd backpack for the go-pro!! what a awesome girl! not sure how long my battery will last now? (prob 30seconds) but now i just need some extra batteries for it now haha!! maybe the surf mount too would be sweet
Hoping surf mounts arrive in the January shipment.
Poor GoPro; the server died today and the website is having issues. Many disgruntled GoPro gift receipients are freaking because they open the box and all it says is “you must update firmware before use” and no included operating manual (both only available from their site).
Arrgh! How frustrating. 
It took me 2 days but finally got remote connected.
Instructions say nothing about initialising the remote menue - I had the remote menu in the right function earlier but not while the camera was in the correct menu (9 step process for camera).
Without having instructions whole process is impossible.
Not that any instruction are available for remote menu I just had to work that out by myself.
Had cam and remote connected to power the whole time so batteries wouldn’t go flat.
Not that it helped since I left the remote on accidentally and it went dead so quickly.
Compared to other cams I’ve used gp3Black is the most complex O.O.B.
And the remote is likely to be next to useless.
The app is ok - except for the delay, the delay is woeful. And the need to put it in full screen why doesn’t it auto full screen, the thumbnail is ridicules.
I’ve had a chance to give my GP3B a run over the past couple of days at the beach with the family. Yesterday I shot in 1080p and the quality was excellent. Today I shot in 2.7K (non ProTune) and the quality is eye-popping! My poor old Core2 Duo macbook can’t play the high-res MP4s back without major jerkiness, but I can see enough to see that the image is super-sharp. I guess there’s no way to show you guys directly, but if anyone really wants to see some of the raw footage I may be able to put it up on a server next week.
i prefer the remote then the iphone app, don’t really like using the app due to the delay but saying that i got the lcd screen for it lol
only using it as a backup camera for different angles so the battery life doesnt really bother me as much
Got mine today! Was just minding my own business at a City Beach store when I spotted 3 of them on the shelf! Paid retail, but will claim back 10% when I fly out for Whistler in 3 weeks. Win. I look forward to the ensuing shitfight in getting the firmware updates and the wi-fi working.
