Super light bindings with Canted footbeds

Avatar

I’m actually looking for a local spot right now that stocks salomon bindings and let me tell you it’s not looking promising but damn good point on the snug, smaller, lighter from what i noticed my DC status have a smaller foot print because with L Ride bindings that seem slightly too big and we all know that the L Now bindings were a no go I’m thinking M and just my luck they not in stock in to many places

Can some with Rome Targa bindings answer what is this slotted thing on the outside of the ankle ladders ? Just wondering if that is some sorta of locking mechanism for the levers because that would be sweet

Need some advise here guys I recently ended up getting the Rome Targas because my Ride Meastros that sorta started to go on me (straps releasing, webbing falling apart) and Ride customer service made things a bit difficult to get the them fixed timely so i went with Targas I like them because they are a great all around binding and offer alot of adjustablity to get them just right.

I planned on having the Salomon Holograms for park use but that is a no go the bindings are not as they appear no canting at all.

Sooo What I need now is some park bindings just park nothing else, I’m thinking soft-mid flex with canted footbeds and good lateral flex for presses, jumps and grabs, few that I’m considering:

Rome 390 boss feel alot like the Targas just a bit softer and a more cushier ankle strap but the lateral flex isn’t there in my opinion the bindings seem pretty solid with the metal baseplate

K2 Formula and K2 Hurrithane both look like great park bindings from what I hear they are lighter the 390 boss,  not sure how the lateral flex is also I’m leaning towards the Formulas because I feel I should go a lil stiffer side for support on the bigger kickers

Any suggestions ?? Or if there’s some other park bindings I should be looking at?

Not a fan of auto canting

Hey, I’m in the market for nearly the same thing (more for all mountain freestyle with a softer board though) . How light are your Targas? Thought they would be more on the heavy side as well.

I ended up returning the Targas and keeping the 390 boss the Targas are sick bindings but the 390 boss got the super comfy ankle strap too hard to pass up and the Targa has that adjustable ankle strap but its lacking comfort for sure. I use the 390 Boss for messing around in the park and that do very well, the flex is definitely right in the middle but toe to heel support/response they rock so all mtn shedding is what the 390 boss are all about… I highly recommend these bindings oh and btw unbelievable adjustablity is a understatement when it comes to these bindings love em

Hey Lester,

cheers. Great to know.

So I might consider the 390 boss too or maybe the Mob Boss. Raiden Blackhawk has a canted footbed too.

I am a bit concerned about weight and flex (highback being too soft), though.

Could you say how the 390 and the Mob Boss compare to each other and to other bindings (for.e.g. your Maestro) in flex/response and weight?

Looks like I am between those 3 mentioned above and Burton Cartels or Malavitas (of course giving up the idea of real canting then).

Going by weight from lightest to heaviest : mob boss, 390 boss closely followed by the Ride Meastros
By flex softest to stiffest : Mob boss, 390 boss, Meastro

I didn’t have to much time to compare flex on the Mob bose to the 390 boss but highback wise the 390 boss is stiffer, weight I can confirm I did a side by side and its a noticeable difference. Comparing the 390 boss which I current use to my past binding of choice Ride Meastro the 390 boss is a better all around freestyle bindings super comfortable as i mentioned before has the lateral flex I want with the good response something you don’t get normally, its either one or the other. I don’t want to discourage you from the Meastro binding because it is a solid binding that’s for sure, other then comes ladder issues and webbing coming off the binding is damn near indistructable. Stiffer all around then the 390 boss that’s for sure and a bit heavier.

Kinda comes down to what you plan on doing with the bindings hmmm I rode Burton Malavitas a while back they are solid too but auto canting not my cup of tea.

Meastros for all mountain freestyle,  freeride, hauling down the steeps
390 Boss for all mountain freestyle, messing around the park, and doing some freeride here and there

Hope that helps

Great! Thanks. That helps a lot.

When I look at the 390 boss videos the highback seems to be quite soft. Problem for me cause it’ll be not a park binding for me but more a do- anything kind of thing.

Maybe I’ll get the Cartel ltd. and try to tweak it a little myself with a piece of EVA-foam to get some canting if needed.

Anybody been trying this?

Hey Burton. Sell cantbeds for your disc bindings!

Hey anyone: Sell auto open straps with your bindings like Head does. This is a great feature, imho.

Btw. What was your problem with autocant. That it does not cant?

No it does under pressure (on landings) but during regular relaxed riding it doesn’t feel the same at actual canted footbeds, with actual canting like in Ride and Rome bindings you can rock a wide stance and still keep everything in line feels great with auto cant i felt like I was too wide and it caused discomfort, didnt like it personally but lots of people so you never know
