I know what you mean but let me tell you there was no breaking through anything on this one when I tried to unscrew it is was stuck felt like it was welded on didn’t even budge its was crazy how it happened… I’m trying to see if there is a way for me to test fit the screw to the holes prior to doing anything just to make sure it screws on correctly…. But then again I did that yesterday before putting the bindings on and it wasn’t completely smooth but it appeared fine… Then with bindings it felt the same so I thought it was all good then the tightening down happen and it all went down hill from there..
You aren’t alone Lester86. I have a weird Bataleon story too, although less fortunate than you. I bought a new Bataleon Feelbetter online and went to screw in my old Gnu bindings that I used on my previous Roxy board. The first binding went in just fine. As I was tightening a screw on the second binding the screw suddenly snapped. Unfortunately I wasn’t close to a Bataleon dealer, but I brought it in to a reputable local ski and snowboard shop that’s been around for 40+ years. They removed the screw with a dremel but said the insert was faulty and that I should try to send it back under warrantee. When I went to a Bataleon dealer they said they weren’t too hopeful since using a dremel likely voided the warrantee but they’re willing to send in the paperwork to Bataleon for a $25 processing fee, and if it’s successful I’ll have to pay a shipping fee to send the board back to them.
The paperwork and photos of my board have been sent to Bataleon, waiting for a reply to see if it’s covered under warrantee.
Wow that’s surprising I actually had another board sent over from my retailer and when I got the new board the screws were a bit tricky going in but I slowly worked them in and so far so good. To be on the safe side I contacted Bataleon directly and they actually insisted to send it to them to have it checked out but I explained to them that I want to get some time on this board and see how things go before I send it in they said that’s fine. Bataleon said the turn around time would be a week and a half if I choose to send it in. It’s been over a month and no issues it seems the threads just needed to be worked in.

Yeah, after using a dremel you can’t claim the thread was faulty - for all anyone knows the guy who did that damaged it himself - and especially no one knows exactly what process was used. Had you talked to Bataleon first it may have been okay or they could have provided another option. And if the screw broke, then it sounds like an old screw and it shouldn’t have been used in the first place.
Also, refuse to pay any fees if they agree to warranty it - If it is their fault then there should be no cost on you. K2 tried to do that to me after I broke my second board in the exact same way, including trying to charge me over $100 to “assess” the board, but after talking to another store and the rep they waived it and told me the original price was lower than the previous store had quoted.
Yes, definitely in hindsight I should not have let the shop use a dremel to remove the screw. In my panicked state all I was thinking about was removing the screw. Worst case scenario, I may be able to get a refund from my credit card company which provides insurance from damages within 120 days of purchase.
The screw actually wasn’t that old. It came with my GNU B-real bindings that I’ve used for just 1 season.
Let this be a lesson for everyone, when screwing bindings into a brand new board go very very very slowly. I do wonder if Bataleon boards are prone to some issues with the inserts because Lester86’s story seems so similar to mine. I’m sure if I went a little slower I would’ve noticed the screw suddenly got stuck before being fully tightened down. Unfortunately I think I was halfway through a rachet when it stuck and the sudden torque on the screw caused it to snap.

No it’s not “camber” by definition. But it’s the words used to describe what it is. No one’s trying to trick anyone here, it’s not like they’re trying to make you think it’s something different. “Flat camber” is just how we refer to the fact the base of the board is flat. The same way we call rocker “reverse camber”. Everyone knows what “flat camber” is referring to, it’s not a marketing buzzword, just a description.

It’s an oxymoron - any given section of a snowboard base can NOT be “flat” AND “camber”.
The term “reverse camber” is valid, as it’s the opposite of camber. The term “flat camber” makes as much sense as “flat rocker” or “flat reverse camber” - it’s injecting hype into what should be a simple, straightforward description. Perhaps the majority of snowboard manufacturers who don’t use TBT should use the term “Single Base Technology®”? That’d be just as valid a “description” as “flat camber” - and just as redundant.
You’re just picking an argument for the sake of it. TBT has no more bases than any other board. It’s still one base, it’s just beveled to be shaped different at the tips, and given a name to represent the different tech and help people recognize it better. Oh look, another “marketing buzzword”, but obviously you have no problems with that one.
“Flat Camber” is not injecting hype anymore than “reverse camber”, “Banana” or “Rocker” does. Again, it’s just an easy way to describe it that everyone will understand. It’s more obvious than “Single Base Technology” - That tells me virtually nothing about what the tech is.
