@Dan: Definitely! Can’t wait to try the PYL in pow. Ya it was the best cuz usually on a pow day I only got good runs up until noon at the latest but thursday I had fun all the till the end of the day haha. When the pow is all tracked out, the trees on the 7th cat track off solar coaster are still good, and lots of side hits on the runs leading down to solar.
Arrived in Brio tonight, did a quick walk into the village - most shops were closed.
Going to go for a morning ride then Xmas lunch with some friends.
Soo Keen!!
Well, Boxing Day sales were a waste of time. Most of the good stuff is max 20% off which season pass holders get anyway. Will just grab an insulated jacket later when it’s not as busy. Nice stroll around the village though, -2 and sunny is actually quite good weather.
We hit up fresh tracks for Christmas morning yesterday and basically had the mountain to ourselves, in particular Symphony and Harmony. Some nice groomed runs around Whistler with very few people around to cut them up and get in your way.
Then ate so much Turkey at night that we may not need to eat until 2013!
Spent the day in the village checking the sales as well. Bought myself a pair of Nike zoom kaiju, pretty stoked.
Missus got jacket and pants, but as Fledz said, not a huge sale if your got a season pass.
Will end up getting a new board and bindings in a week or so, no rush.
Keen to spend the whole day on the mountain and et my legs back.
How many members do we have in Whistler?
How’s the mountain this time around? Is it super crowded?
not as crowded as i thought it would be.
Christmas & boxing day there was barely anyone on the mountain!
although according to my supervisor the village is at about 67,000 people which is nearing full capacity so i have no idea where everyone is!
Yea it’s weird. Blackcomb (7th) only started getting busy around midday today. There’s not much snow but if you like to go fast on groomers, it’s pretty much ideal conditions.
Damnn.. should’ve went up today. I thought it was gonna be busy cuz I was in whistler this time around last year and it was really really busy.
Hey new to the whole forum thing. Just wondering if anyone at whistler is planning on staying on for the whole year?
Planning on going over for 2013-14 season or longer.. Wondering if it would be the smart decision to stay on or what.
Keen to hear what the parties have been like too
A mate of mine was only going for a season, now he has lived in whistler for 4 years, if you have a decent job all year round why not?
Blackcomb Early Season - FootyFIEND
Adam Franks, Keenan Filmer, Alex Stathis, Brin Alexander, Kai Ujejski and friends stuntin’ on the dark side of Whistler.

Welcome to Boardword.
There’s a few members on here who have stayed on for the full year. Many of my friends stay in Whistler year-round.
Whister is awesome during the summer as well. It’s a mountain biking mecca. There’s golfing, the lakes are beautiful and great for swimming and hanging out. I’ve done five winters over there and always heard about how great it is during summer. This year I was lucky enough to spend time there during the summer and it was great. I only wish I had more time to stay there longer.
Let me put it this way - you’ll have a great time during both seasons and you certainly wouldn’t regret staying on for a full year. Whistler is am amazing place and you are guaranteed a great year. I say go for it!
Hey all,
I’m heading to whistler next year for the 2013 season and have a few questions, if you dont mind asking (hopefully im posting this in the right thread).
I have no gear at all, so looking for suggestions on wether it will save me a few bucks going to seattle or stopping over in LA and picking it up there (i’m aussie so guess depends on the USD)??
Job wise i am not too sure. I’ve been trying to find more about the various jobs and peoples experiences doing them? any ideas on good jobs people have had?.
I plan on heading to whistler early september is that too early??
Again hopefully posting this in the right area.
Adam
The more I talk to serious riders and other people who have worked previous seasons elsewhere the more excited I get about whistler next year.
Hey Adam you lining work up before you go? Last year I went to Canada for a week and had no gear I stopped in NY and bought most of my gear heaps cheaper than aus. Got the rest at pre and post season sales it saved me and my wife heaps.. But each to their own.

Welcome to Boardworld, Adam.
For sure you can post in this thread. Feel free to start a new thread if you want to as well.
I wouldn’t bother stopping off in LA unless you have to (or want to for another reason). You won’t save much and once you factor in
hotels and flights etc., it will probably end up costing more. Vancouver and Whistler both have a good selection of stores and gear. In Whistler you will be able to get staff discounts on gear as well. This is probably the easiest way to do it. If you’re going to be living in Whistler for the season you will probably have a bunch of stuff to buy and haul to Whistler, so the less you have to carry the better.
Your other option is buying sale gear in Australia once if goes on sale towards the end of our season. Most the brands are a year ahead in Australia so you can buy them for a significant discount in Australia and still have the current model gear in Canada. You then get your tax (GST) back at the airports, saving another 10 percent. Sometimes this is actually the cheapest way to do it.
It’s never too early to get to Whistler. The earlier the better I say (unless you’re short on funds). October is usually a good time to get there. It gives you enough time to get everything sorted and settle in before the start of the season.
Any questions, hit us up.
