Christmas Eve
So I feel a but embarrassed to tell you all this, I didn’t go up the mountain today either. But honestly I am having such a great time soaking everything in it doesn’t bother me!
Today in Europe is more important than Christmas Day and the mountain and all stores close at 2pm, and it is such a family day that no one would go with me anyway. Tomorrow everything goes back normal.
Last night we went to the local Christmas Market. It was small but every second store was selling alcohol mostly warm fruit punch with rum or gluwhine. It was a very social night and lots of locals around. I am very much a novelty and the funny thing is the people who tell my host that they don’t speak English very well and are embarrassed to speak to me until they have a drink and relax and talk very well.
Interesting guest gossip today. Last night a family checked in from Italy, the mum could speak English and the Dad Austrian (it is slightly different to German) so the four of us made and interesting bunch around my friends bar, with everyone translating for everyone else.
Anyway the family story was very interesting the parents and the two teenage sons apparently spend every Christmas away from family skiing (curiously the mum does not ski) they live near Sorrento and they flew to Venice and drove 4 hours here in a rented car. They will then eat out for Christmas dinner.
Sounds like the best way to spend christmas! i spent last christmas in Tahoe with my then gf, loved being away from family.
Haha yeah its why I am here! But every year and my mum would get angry!
Christmas Day
You will all be pleased to know I went up the mountain today.
AND i got some photos AND i have them to add here!
This morning was nothing special. a normal day really! I went up the mountain on my own and somehow ended up having turkey for lunch. I realised the irony of this and took a phot. Werid to be eating Christmas “dinner” alone. But oh well!
In other news last night i had organised a date with an Austrian ski instructor today and even though he seemed keen last night (granted it was about midnight and maybe like me he was half cut) but today I did not hear from him. He said he had to work and suggested we meet up in the afternoon. I assumed that he would message me and ask where I was or something when he finished work. I didn’t hear from him and just assumed he was busy with work and got an afternoon lesson or something but my friend yelled at me saying i should have been the one to message him. !!!!
So i did and just said sorry i wasn’t sure who was supposed to message who and suggested tomorrow. No response (its almost 8pm)
So no hot date for me!
Men confusing the world over over!

This is not a tradtional Christmas meal as such. I think they just do something special for the meal.

Fingers crossed the snow predicted tomorrow happens!
Merry Christmas Ozzy!!!
Looks rad
Sounds great Oz
So I am sitting here on my last night in Schladming ready for the next adventure.
Crowds got super crazY here the last couple of days. Today a neighbours 13yo daughter got on a bus with me to another v small resort about 20mins. When I got back here and went to the Gondola to get some souvenirs I was very glad we escaped for the day. The resort we went to, Ramsau, only had a couple of lifts, but heaps of pow, which for some reason had been sorely lacking over at the big mountain. Melina was very cute she didn’t like to pow but when I explained that you need to go in the less chopped up bits and that it was easier than the crud she had a blast!
There will be a lot of snow tonight so it seems I will miss the pow tomorrow :-( but I am ready to move in. No partying here as my friend has been working so I am looking forward to having a good night out.
Just booked accom at south lake tahoe for a girls weekend which I am now very much looking forward too!
I also scored a bargain today, some super cool and warm boots for only 20 Euro! These are more dressy/going out boots perfect for NYE, but all padded and lined for the snow!
My new favourite thing that I don’t know how to live without…. Padded AND heated chairlifts! With hoods! No complaining about bad weather days here!
If some reads this that has access to my facebook can you share the pic? That good Ozzy?? Azz
Thanks!
Thanks Azz! Love your work!
